Wayne County Regional Enhancement Education Millage Proposal

School districts in Wayne County have placed a proposal on the November 8th ballot to provide added funding for our schools. It is the “Regional Enhancement Millage Proposal.”

If approved by the entire county, the 2 mil proposal will generate approximately $6.2 million from Dearborn but the District will receive $7.8 million in additional funding for our schools.  Money would go to local schools starting this year and the millage expires after six years.  Continue reading

Girls on the Run 2014 Zones (we are Zone 5) We plan on making decorative signs which will help identify our team before the run. We will plan a meeting spot for after the race once everyone arrives to our zone.

Spirit Day
Wednesday May 14th
We will receive our 5K shirts prior to the 5K, Have your daughter wear the 5k shirt to school on WEDNESDAY MAY 14th to show spirit and excitement for the 5K!!  Parent shirts will be available for pick up at the expo or the morning of the 5K.

The girls decided that they would like to wear colorful over-the-calf athletic knee high socks  and fun flower head bands to the 5k.  Please purchase the socks on your own. We will make the headbands with the girls at one of our practices.

Volunteers needed for the 5k in Ferndale on Sunday, May 18

  • The YMCA has ordered buses for the girls at no additional cost to anyone. We must have a full head count of girls / parents by May 1st. Please let me know at the next practice if you are interested in this option.
  • Due to the size of the race, the teams will line up in ‘zones’ as a meeting spot. More information to follow as the zone numbers are announced. This is a great way to quickly find our group.
  • The expo is Sunday, May 10th at the Farmington Family YMCA.  You can pick up your T-Shirt and Bib and stay for a fun filled afternoon! Receive goodies form sponsors and have fun in the pool, gym, and other great activities! The girls t-shirts will not be at the expo, the t-shirt pick up is only for additional runners registered.

Please let me know if you have any questions regarding the 5k.
