I hope you had a wonderful and relaxing break! Now it\u2019s time to get back to work! M-Step testing begins tomorrow. Be sure that your child has a good breakfast and a good night\u2019s sleep (be sure that he\/she gets to bed early).<\/strong><\/p>\n

Wednesday evening is the only night for Parent-Teacher Conferences.\u00a0 I have sent home ten conference slips.\u00a0 Please check to see if you have been scheduled a conference time.\u00a0 If you have a conflict with the assigned time, contact me tomorrow!<\/strong><\/p>\n

Please be sure that your child brings a healthy snack tomorrow to eat in between test sessions.<\/p>\n

Homework<\/strong><\/p>\n

Spelling<\/strong>– Write 5 word boxes for the first 5 spelling word pairs.\u00a0 Sign and correct your test.<\/p>\n

Social Studies<\/strong>– Begin studying the new states and capitals (the first part of the Southeast Region)<\/p>\n

Louisiana- Baton Rouge<\/p>\n

Arkansas- Little Rock<\/p>\n

Kentucky- Frankfort<\/p>\n

Tennessee- Nashville<\/p>\n

Mississippi- Jackson<\/p>\n

This Week\u2019s Objectives<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

Literacy<\/strong><\/p>\n

-The students will prepare for the M-Step reading and focus on contractions and prepositions.<\/p>\n

Writing<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2013 The students will continue practicing for the M-Step using the R.A.C.E.R. method.<\/p>\n

Science<\/strong><\/p>\n

-The students will finish looking at what causes nighttime and daytime. Then they will look at shadows and what creates them. Finally, graphing their length at various times of the day.<\/p>\n

Social Studies<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2013 The students will continue studying the three colonial regions in the New World including their economics, landforms, religion and government. Then we will look at some of the settlements in the colonies.<\/p>\n

Math<\/strong><\/p>\n

-The students will continue multiplying fractions by multi-digit whole numbers through conversion to a whole number problem and reasoning about the placement of the decimal.<\/p>\n
