When will winter ever end?\u00a0 It sure will be cold the next two days so be sure that your child is dressed appropriately.<\/p>\n

Our class did an awesome job on their first states and capitals test!\u00a0 This week we will be focusing on 5 states in the west region.\u00a0 Be sure that your child studies his\/her map each night.<\/p>\n

West Region<\/strong>– Washington-Olympia, Oregon-Salem, California-Sacramento, Alaska-Juneau, Hawaii-Honolulu<\/p>\n

Homework<\/strong><\/p>\n

Spelling<\/strong>– Write your words 2 times each in cursive on paper. Sign and correct your test.<\/p>\n

Math- <\/strong>Do Succeed workbook 5-2 Lesson 7<\/p>\n

Social Studies<\/strong>– Study new states and capitals.\u00a0 Sign states and capitals test.<\/p>\n

Read at least 20 minutes and write in your log.<\/p>\n

This Week\u2019s Objectives<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

Literacy<\/strong><\/p>\n

-The students will continue working on identifying the 4 types of sentences (declarative, interrogative, imperative, exclamatory) and working on conjunctions.<\/p>\n

Writing<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2013 The students will begin work on a narrative and paragraph writing.<\/p>\n

Science<\/strong><\/p>\n

-The students will continue focusing on the force of gravity and its effects. We will then look at what causes nighttime and daytime.<\/p>\n

Social Studies<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2013 The students will be studying the three colonial regions in the New World including their economics, landforms, religion and government.<\/p>\n

Math<\/strong><\/p>\n

-The students will continue multiplying multi-digit whole numbers and multiples of 10 using place value patterns and the distributive and associative properties. We will also be converting numerical expressions into unit form as a mental strategy for multi-digit multiplication.<\/p>\n
