The majority of the class is finished and there is just a handful left.\u00a0 It will be nice getting back to the regular schedule.<\/p>\n<p>Below is are article if your child is interested in attending STEM Middle School next school year.<\/p>\n<header class=\"entry-header\">\n<h1 class=\"entry-title\">STEM Middle School Admission Process<\/h1>\n<div class=\"entry-meta\"><span class=\"sep\">Posted on\u00a0<\/span><a title=\"4:10 pm\" href=\"https:\/\/oakman.dearbornschools.org\/2019\/02\/05\/stem-middle-school-admission-process\/\" rel=\"bookmark\"><time class=\"entry-date\" datetime=\"2019-02-05T16:10:16+00:00\">February 5, 2019<\/time><\/a><span class=\"byline\">\u00a0<span class=\"sep\">by\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"author vcard\"><a class=\"url fn n\" title=\"View all posts by Amal Chehab\" href=\"https:\/\/oakman.dearbornschools.org\/author\/chehaba\/\" rel=\"author\">Amal Chehab<\/a><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<\/header>\n<div class=\"entry-content post_content\">\n<p>STEM Middle School would like to thank everyone for their interest in attending our school for the 2019-2020 school year.\u00a0 To answer the most popular question we hear, there is\u00a0<strong><u>no\u00a0<\/u><\/strong>application process in order to be considered for STEM for those students who attend Dearborn Public Schools; instead,\u00a0<strong><u>invitations<\/u><\/strong>\u00a0will be sent out to all those 5<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0grade students in the district that are found to be eligible.<\/p>\n<p>To be eligible students must have the following:<\/p>\n<p>\u2013\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0A Winter NWEA math score in the 85<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0or higher percentile.<\/p>\n<p>\u2013\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0A Winter NWEA reading score in the 85<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0or higher percentile.<\/p>\n<p>\u2013\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0A Winter NWEA science score in the 85<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0or higher percentile.<\/p>\n<p>\u2013\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0ADVANCED on the 2018 ELA and Math M-STEP.<\/p>\n<p>Our hope is to have\u00a0<u>invitations<\/u>\u00a0sent out to all eligible 5<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0grade students by the end of February.\u00a0 From there, students who receive an invitation and indicate that they are interested in actually attending STEM in the fall, will be selected\u00a0<strong><u>by lottery<\/u><\/strong>.\u00a0 We will accept a final number of 60 students in to our 2019-2020 6<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0grade class.<\/p>\n<p>If you live within the Dearborn Public Schools, and do not currently attend a Dearborn Public School, OR you are currently a 6<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0or 7<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0grader and would like to apply for a POSSIBLE empty slot, an application will be available on the STEM Middle School website (<a href=\"https:\/\/stem.dearbornschools.org\/\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/stem.dearbornschools.org\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1549484794567000&amp;usg=AFQjCNFWuNpl2r9KfhelyGHWQ5AzRR5Pug\">https:\/\/stem.dearbornschools.org\/<\/a>) under the tab \u201cADMISSIONS\u201d starting\u00a0<strong>in mid-February.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0<strong><u>Invitations<\/u><\/strong>\u00a0will be sent out to grade students that meet the below standards:<\/p>\n<p>\u2013\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0A Winter NWEA math score in the 85<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0or higher percentile.<\/p>\n<p>\u2013\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0A Winter NWEA reading score in the 85<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0or higher percentile.<\/p>\n<p>\u2013\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0A Winter NWEA science score in the 85<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0or higher percentile.<\/p>\n<p>\u2013\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0ADVANCED on the 2018 ELA and Math M-STEP<\/p>\n<p>Once again, thank you for your interest in STEM Middle School \u2013\u00a0<strong>a 2018 National Blue Ribbon School for Academic Excellence.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Today the Ecology Club started a new drive-4 Oceans.\u00a0 We are asking kids to return bottles and cans at home (that have a 10 cent deposit) to the store and bring in the money that they get back.\u00a0 This money can go to help clean our oceans.\u00a0 Our goal is that every classroom will bring in a total of $100.\u00a0 For every $20 brought in, this program can clean 1 pound of bottles and other garbage from the oceans.\u00a0 Also, for every $20 brought in, we can purchase a &#8220;save the oceans&#8221; bracelet and raffle it off in class.\u00a0 Read about it and watch the video below and help us in this important effort to save our oceans!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/4ocean.com\/\">https:\/\/4ocean.com\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Tomorrow is a Late Start!\u00a0 Remember, school begins at 9:35.
