This looks to be a warmer week so I hope that we will have no trouble completing the NWEA and DRA testing.\u00a0 Today your child worked very hard on testing.\u00a0 It was done in the morning and afternoon in addition to the Math-a-Thon and spelling test. It was one tough day!\u00a0 Now all we have to do is complete tests that weren’t finished.\u00a0 So make sure that your child has a good night’s sleep and a good breakfast in the morning so they are ready to test!<\/p>\n

Wednesday is a Late Start!\u00a0 School begins at 9:35.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Our 2nd Quarter Celebration will take place next Wednesday, February 13th at 2:15.\u00a0 Please come and cheer on our students!<\/p>\n

Today your child has brought home his\/her report card.\u00a0 Please go over it together, keep the report card and sign and return the envelope.\u00a0 Sign on the 2nd qt. line only.\u00a0 As so as the NWEA testing is completed, I will send home a copy of your child’s test results.<\/p>\n

Homework<\/strong><\/p>\n

Spelling<\/strong>– Write your words 2 times in cursive on the worksheet.\u00a0 Sign and correct your spelling test.<\/p>\n

Read at least 20 minutes and write in your log.<\/p>\n

This Week\u2019s Objectives<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

Literacy<\/strong><\/p>\n

-The students will work again on finding the main idea and key details in selected text. They will also be analyzing text.<\/p>\n

Writing<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2013 The students will continue research on their informational piece on the Earth\u2019s spheres and then begin work on a rough draft.<\/p>\n

Science<\/strong><\/p>\n

-The students will finish their unit on Earth science and start looking at space and gravity.<\/p>\n

Social Studies<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2013 The students will be studying the Columbian Exchange and the African economy.<\/p>\n

Math<\/strong><\/p>\n

-The students will continue multiplying multi-digit whole numbers and multiples of 10 using place value patterns and the distributive and associative properties. We will also be converting numerical expressions into unit form as a mental strategy for multi-digit multiplication.<\/p>\n
