Grades will be updated today for last week’s assignments, as well as grades for late work from previous weeks (as of yesterday). If you completed work and see that you didn’t earn full points, it is most likely that you did not earn the highest score for the skill in Khan or IXL OR you are missing one or more of the skills. If you choose to improve any of your scores or get caught up on anything from a previous week, please email me to let me know when you are finished with something so I can update your grade.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

SOME THINGS TO BRING TO YOUR ATTENTION<\/strong><\/span><\/h5>\n

  • The list of skills\/videos that I have assigned in Khan Academy is growing. Only about 8-10 tasks are shown on the page at a time, so be sure to scroll down near the bottom of the list to click “Next” to see more. I believe some of you just did what was shown on the main page and thought you were caught up….you didn’t realize you should check for a second page or third page. Refer to each blog post for the names of all the skills\/videos assigned each week!<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
  • Many kids are skipping the videos in Khan. I’m not sure why, as they should be helpful and are usually very short. For those of you that are scoring low on the practice skills, it is probably due to the fact that you skipped the video(s). Go back, watch the video(s), then retry the skill.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
  • Some kids are only<\/span> watching videos I assigned and not doing the practice skills. Perhaps you thought you would watch videos one day and do the skills another day and just forgot, but you need to go back to finish the skills.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
  • In IXL, some of you are doing just the 7th grade skills or just the 6th grade skills…I have been giving you a mix of skills from each grade. Refer to each blog post for the names of the skills assigned each week and which grade they are under!<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    We are working on 1-step equations word problems this week and reviewing two-step equations.\u00a0<\/span>Assignments are due THIS FRIDAY, May 8. <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

    The KHAN ASSIGNMENTS are:<\/span><\/span><\/strong>
    \n* Video:\u00a0 Modeling with one-step equations<\/span>
    \n* Exercise: Translate one-step equations and solve<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

    The IXL ASSIGNMENTS are:<\/span><\/span><\/strong>
    \n6th grade skills<\/span>\u00a0 * Z8 and Z9 (Solve one-step equations: word problems; Solve two-step equations) <\/span>
    \n7th grade skill<\/span>\u00a0 * S7 (Solve equations: word problems) <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

    Points earned for each skill is based on IXL smart score or Khan Academy percent: <\/span>
    \n75 – 100 = 5 pts <\/span>
    \n60 – 74 = 4 pts <\/span>
    \n40 – 59 = 3 pts <\/span>
    \n1 – 39 = 1 pt <\/span>
    \n0 = 0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
