The gear driven vehicle project is created by the SAE &#8220;Society of Automotive Engineers&#8221; to allow students to use gears, wheels and a small motor to create a vehicle which will do\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">one<\/span> of the following items:<\/p>\n<p>Goes a distance of 3 meters in 3 seconds on a flat surface<\/p>\n<p>Goes a distance of 1 meter in 2 seconds on a 15 degree incline<\/p>\n<p>Goes a distance of 1 meter with no time restriction on a 30 degree incline<\/p>\n<p>Over the next four weeks each &#8220;toy company&#8221; will experiment with finding the correct gear combination for one of the three goals stated above, create a cardboard prototype for the exterior of the vehicle, complete a written proposal for Mobility Toys Inc. (a fictional toy company) and design a stage with decoration and any exciting features (lights. music, fog machine&#8221; to introduce their new toy.<\/p>\n<p>Each days companies will also keep a design log of what the group worked on and draw the combination of gears used for the day as well as and exterior design ideas.<\/p>\n<p><strong>This activity is due for presentation on June 9th and 10th.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Below is a link to the program which includes an overview of the activity, lesson plans, material used in class and a video on assembling the toy.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>https:\/\/awim.sae.org\/curriculum\/mtc\/<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The video below displays how gears work together.
