Vowel teams are two vowels that work together to make one sound. The name of the first letter of the team (&#8220;the captain&#8221;) is the sound the team makes (usually- there are always exceptions in English). The teams we are working on are the &#8220;ai&#8221; and &#8220;ay&#8221; teams. They both say the long a sound as in ape.
