Chapter 7- Geography of Ancient Egypt<\/p>\n<p>The tasks are as follows:<\/p>\n<p>Interactive Map<\/p>\n<p>Illustrated Dictionary<\/p>\n<p>C.E.R.- Environmental factors that affect where humans settle<\/p>\n<p>Interactive Student Journal<\/p>\n<p>Code of Hammurabi Poster Project- directions below<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Code of Hammurabi<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Project<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Part I:<\/b><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Read the Code of Hammurabi-Overview sheet <\/span><b>AND<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> sections 4-5 in chapter 6 in the textbook that explains the background information about King Hammurabi of the Babylonian Empire and his code of laws. \u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Read the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">actual laws<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that Hammurabi created to keep and sustain order in his society \u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b><i>Create a poster<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> including everything under Part II<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Part II:<\/b><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On a small poster (use same size posters we have in class, <\/span><\/i><b><i>12x18in.<\/i><\/b><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">), include the following:<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b><i>Write a short summary<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> explaining the Code of Hammurabi (1 paragraph 6-7 sentences). \u00a0Consider these questions: Who created it? Why was it created? Who were the laws for? \u00a0Use the information provided on the blog (what we read in class), the textbook, and any other resources you can find. \u00a0Must be in your own words, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">no copying<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">!<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b><i>Write a short summary<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> about <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">your feelings<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of the laws. \u00a0Why would Hammurabi make these laws? \u00a0Do you feel they were too extreme? Why or why not? \u00a0Do you feel they were effective? Would these laws be able to exist in today\u2019s world? \u00a0Explain your reasons (1 P, 5-6 sentences).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you were a leader of a school (principal), what would your code of laws be? \u00a0<\/span><b><i>Create a list of 10 laws<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that clearly describe a situation where a rule was broken, and the punishment given.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Please keep punishments <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">clean, and school friendly!!!<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (no deaths, or physical harm)<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Remember that Hammurabi had different punishments for different people. \u00a0He had specific laws for men, women, slaves, scholars, farmers, artisans, etc\u2026<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b><i>Draw a picture<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that would go on top of your own code of law stele. \u00a0Label what is in the picture, and explain what the picture means. \u00a0Color it!!<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>,or maybe six days!
