{"id":287,"date":"2018-08-29T11:52:36","date_gmt":"2018-08-29T15:52:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/elahuhta7\/?p=287"},"modified":"2018-08-29T11:52:36","modified_gmt":"2018-08-29T15:52:36","slug":"welcome-letter-2018-supplies-list","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/elahuhta7\/2018\/08\/29\/welcome-letter-2018-supplies-list\/","title":{"rendered":"Welcome Letter 2018\/Supplies List"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>7th Grade Language Arts<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Ms. Huhta<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Room G4<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Email: <\/b><b>huhtar@dearbornschools.org<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>iBlog: <\/b><b>https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/elahuhta7\/<\/b><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>COURSE DESCRIPTION:<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Students will receive instruction in the areas of reading, writing, speaking, listening, and language usage. \u00a0Lessons, activities, and assignments will be planned to ensure students understand and master the Common Core State Standards for 7th grade ELA.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">More information about the standards can be found at <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.corestandards.org\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">www.corestandards.org<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> .<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>GRADING POLICY:<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">20% of a student\u2019s grade is based upon participation and progress. \u00a0Students will earn points for contributing to class discussions, fully participating in class activities, and completing homework.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">80% of a student\u2019s grade is based upon performance. \u00a0Students will earn points for writing assignments, quizzes, tests, projects and presentations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">-10% for late assignments<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Remember, grades are earned, not given.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>SUPPLIES*<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I am encouraging my students to have the following materials to be best prepared for class:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pencils (enough to last the year)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Multi-colored pens (for note-taking)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Multi-colored sticky notes-multiple sizes if possible<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Filler Paper (hole punched for use in binders) <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(1-1.5 inch) 3 ring Binder- preferably with pockets on the inside of the front\/back covers<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Page Dividers- 5 (For organizing\/labeling binder)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Index Cards<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Zipper pencil pouch with binder holes<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Planner (provided by the school)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tissue (PLEASE \ud83d\ude42 )<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Positive Attitude<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">*If you are unable to purchase these supplies due to financial hardship, please let me know so we can work together to develop a solution.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I would also suggest having colored pencils, glue and a small pair of scissors for use in all classes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Our class would greatly appreciate any antibacterial clean up wipes and hand sanitizer.
