Today students were given an example of the 7 elements that they must include in their informal &#8216;book talk&#8217;.  Students will deliver their mini presentation to their table groups of 3-5 students next Monday.  The elements that must be included are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"text-align:left\">Title, author, character description, setting, recommendation, quote from the book to share aloud and a student drawn illustration representing a favorite part from the book.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The only element that will be turned in, will be the illustration.  Students can plan their book talk using any format with which they are comfortable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some ideas discussed today (but not required) included:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>note cards, a piece of paper with bullet points, a poster board, printed slides etc&#8230;.Again, these items are just to help the student remember what to say during the presentation and will not be turned in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thank you for your support at home!!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>At the end of last year, all 5th grade (Dearborn) students were instructed to read at least 3 books over the summer in order to complete a &#8216;book talk&#8217; upon entering 6th grade.
