Welcome Back and Happy Memorial Day!

Greetings!

It is my hope that you took time to enjoy the sunshine this past weekend as America celebrated Memorial Day.

We are back in full swing here in ELA! The students will be reading short articles assigned through Google Classroom each day this week, as well as finishing up their civilization project and presenting it to the class.

Book logs have ended for the year in the gradebook, but please encourage students to continue reading novels of high interest to increase overall comprehension heading into summer and beyond.

Have a great week and please reach out with any questions or comments.

Respectfully,

Chelly Eifert

Happy Monday – Only 3 More Wake Ups This Week!

Greetings,

I hope that everyone enjoyed our Michigan spring and summer this weekend, seeing that we are moving back into Fall today. 🙂

This week we are NWEA Testing each morning and conducting 40 minute class periods for the afternoon. The goal is to complete these tests each day and avoid make up testing if possible. Therefore attendance is vital, as well as a protein packed breakfast and lots of rest.

The students received a permission slip in 2nd hour today regarding our end of the year filed trip to The Park, an adventure park filled with great outdoor fun to wrap up 6th grade. Please sign and return the permission slip by no later than this Thursday, May 23rd, as we need to have an accurate head count to send over. No permission slip could result in students missing out on this very exciting day. There is also a link for a waiver attached to all 2nd hour student’s Google Classroom that must be read, signed, and electronically submitted by Thursday, May 23rd as well.

Thank you so much for sending your best to school this week ready for testing, and for signing both the permission slip and waiver by Thursday, May 23rd – YOU are appreciated!!

Fondly,

Chelly Eifert

P.S. This same message will be posted on your student’s Google Classroom page.

Happy Monday!

Greetings,

It is my hope that everyone enjoyed the weekend and celebrated with family. This week is test free and the students are headed to Comerica Park on Thursday for the STEAM Day Field Trip. If you are in need of a refresher on the event, please see Mr. Zimmer’s blog where the original letter that was sent home is posted. All students will be informed of their group logistics Tuesday the 14th, in 2nd hour classes.

Next week we will resume testing and complete our spring NWEA. Please make every effort to have your student in school next week for testing as the school year is quickly ending, and make-ups will be very difficult.

Please reach out with any questions, comments, or feedback and have a great week!

Great Test Prep

Greetings!

All ELA students in Mrs. Eifert’s classes practiced planning strategies and drafting an essay for our upcoming M-Step next Tuesday and Wednesday. They worked very hard both Monday and Tuesday, producing some quality writing. Please remind your students that out of the 8,700+ hours in a year, M-Step asks for about 3-5 hours of their intentional time. I am confident that they will all do their best and set themselves up for success!

Have a great remainder of the week and please email with any comments or questions!

Respectfully,

Chelly Eifert

Happy Easter

Greetings!

This week was a good one and the students were very flexible in trying some new ideas. I am so proud of all of them and know that school only gets tougher as the weather gets nicer, so kudos! Upon return, we will continue to stay busy and grow our knowledge of The City of Ember, as well as, practice test taking strategies. Thank you so much for sending your best to school each day.

It is my hope that each of my students and their families enjoy the three days to be with each other.

Fondly,

Chelly Eifert

Four Days of Adventure

Greetings!

Although this week is short, it will be power packed with reading within our Ember book. The goal is to read a chapter a day and follow up with short reading comprehension and writing activities. Please be sure to check the Google Classroom if an absence occurs for updates and assignments. The goal is stay on top of work and watch the last card marking fly by!

Enjoy the week and please reach out with any questions or feedback.
