Welcome to School\nYear 2019\/2020 !<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dear\nFamilies,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Welcome to the 2019\/2020 school year!  I am very excited about this school\nyear.  I hope that you and your child are\nalso looking forward to this school year. \nI assure you, I will take very good care of your child while he\/she is\nin my class. I have taught both 2nd<\/sup> and 3rd<\/sup> grades in the\nrecent past.  Teaching both grades this\nyear will be a challenge but with the great group I have this year I don\u2019t\nforesee any problems!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Home\nFolders<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

          Starting this week all students were given\nan Oakman homework  folder.  This folder is to be used by the student to\nbring home school notes, homework, and papers. \nThis folder is also for the student\/family to use to return papers,\nhomework and notes to school.  Student\nshould get in the habit of bringing home this folder every afternoon, emptying\nor placing it in a specific spot (a basket, table, counter etc.) where a parent\ncan look at items brought home that day, and then bringing it back to school in\nthe morning.  Please have your child use\nonly this folder throughout the year, as we will be referring to it as the\n\u201chomework folder.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Classroom Expectations<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Treat others the way you like to\n be treated.<\/li>
  2. Be respectful<\/strong> of myself,\n others and property: I raise my hand to talk in class, I follow\n directions, I listen while others are speaking, and I am respectful of\n other people\u2019s property.<\/li>
  3. Be responsible <\/strong>by\n being prepared each day for school.  I have a pencil, paper, book\n bag, math bag, and completed homework.  If I do not have a pencil or\n paper I will solve my problem without disrupting others.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    Consequences<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    1st<\/sup> \nwarning – DoJo point down <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    2nd<\/sup> \nwarning \u2013 DoJo point down and sign the behavior book<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    3rd<\/sup> warning \u2013 DoJo point down and student\ncalls parent and tells parent what they are doing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Snack<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    We will be having\nsnack every morning at approximately 10:30. Please send in a healthy snack for\nyour child as well as a bottle of water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Recess<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    We\nwill go outside in the morning and afternoon as well as at lunch time.  Please make sure your child is dressed for\nthe weather.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Toys and Electronics<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    All toys and electronics should be left at home.  Toys brought into the classroom will be held\nuntil the end of the school year. \nElectronics will be given to the principal and will only be given back\nto the parent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Birthday Snacks<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Birthday\nsnacks will be handed out at the end of the day while students are walking\noutside.  Birthday snacks will no longer\nbe handed out at lunch time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Supplies Students may bring into class<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \u201cThe Dearborn Public Schools\nprovide all school supplies and learning materials required for all students in\nall programs.

    \nParents often request a list of school supplies for their child and although\nthese supplies are NOT required, teachers and principals greatly appreciate the\nsupport these additional supplies provide to the classroom\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    We\nhave new desks this year to space is very limited.  I have purchased a pencil bag, crayons, 2\npens, and 2 pencils and a highlighter for each student.  I also have colored pencils and markers for\neach table group. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Pencil\nsharpener (enclosed to catch the pencil shavings)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Dry\nerase eraser (old clean washcloth or sock?)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    sanitizing\nwipes (like Clorox wipes)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    loose\nleaf paper (wide ruled, not college ruled)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    With\nbooks, workbooks, and pencil pouches there is little room in the desks for\nexcess supplies.  I would appreciate it\nif art kits, notebooks and large (over 24) boxes of crayons were left in your\nchild\u2019s desk at home.  Thank you for your\nsupport in this matter. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
