Good afternoon,<\/p>\n
This coming week, we will embark on taking M-STEP language arts assessment.\u00a0 It will begin on Tuesday (May 1) through Thursday or Friday (May 3 – 4).\u00a0 A reminder: be sure to get plenty of rest, eat a good breakfast, be prepared to think.<\/p>\n
Once the M-STEP language arts test is done, we will begin reading a novel.\u00a0 The sixth grade students will read “Ella Enchanted”.\u00a0 The seventh grade students will read “Where the Red Fern Grows”.<\/p>\n
Some time in the latter part of May, we will take the NWEA reading assessment.\u00a0 These scores do affect the elective choices that you can have for next year.<\/p>\n
Here is a heads-up pertaining to summer school<\/strong>.\u00a0 The requirements include earning an “E” in two or more core classes.\u00a0 You will have to pay for each course for summer school and find your own transportation to school.\u00a0 I do not know which school yet.<\/p>\n Blended learning<\/strong> requirements: two or more years below in reading and\/or math on the NWEA reading and\/or NWEA math assessments.<\/p>\n As of now, all other students will have summer reading<\/strong>.\u00a0 The requirements: read three novels (chapter books) starting June 16, 2018.\u00a0 Use a 3×5 card to write a summary for each book.\u00a0 In the fall, your L.A. teacher will let you know about the book talk.\u00a0 There will be a list of books that are appropriate to read at your independent level ranging from 2nd grade to high school.\u00a0 There will be an exclusion list as well.\u00a0 For instance, if a sixth grade student going into seventh grade “claims” to have read Ella Enchanted over the summer, the seventh grade teacher will not accept this.<\/p>\n Keep up the good work.\u00a0 Any missing\/incomplete assignments should be turned in for credit.\u00a0 Keep reading 20 minutes a night and recording on the reading log.<\/p>\n Have a great weekend!<\/p>\n Mr. Drinkert<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Good afternoon, This coming week, we will embark on taking M-STEP language arts assessment.\u00a0 It will begin on Tuesday (May 1) through Thursday or Friday (May 3 – 4).\u00a0 A reminder: be sure to get plenty of rest, eat a good breakfast, be prepared to think.
