The sixth grade students begin the M-STEP ELA assessment. \u00a0Please get a good night&#8217;s sleep and eat breakfast the morning of the testing session so each student has the fuel to perform at his\/her best.<\/p>\n<p>Also, we have some drastic changes regarding summer time and summer requirements for our students. \u00a0I will attach the entire synopsis for your perusal.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">First, <\/span><b>summer school program<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will take place at Dearborn High School for the middle school students. \u00a0This is for students failing two or more classes. \u00a0Each student will find his\/her own transportation to DHS and has to pay $125 for each summer school class.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Second, <\/span><b>summer blended program<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will be for students that are two grades below or worse in reading OR did not meet the one year&#8217;s growth in reading on the NWEA test. \u00a0This will be one day at school and the other four days per week will have the students working at home. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Third, <\/span><b>summer learning<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will be for all students not in summer school nor summer blended programs. Each student will read 60 minutes per week using MobyMax. Each student will read three books over the summer. \u00a0An index card with relevant book information will be filled out for each book. Each student will prepare a book talk for the teacher in the fall for one of the books.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fourth, for <\/span><b>exiting eighth grade students <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">who will enter ninth grade in the fall of the 2017 &#8211; 2108 school year, the summer requirements include reading a minimum two books over the summer. \u00a0Upon entering high school in the fall, each student will submit a reading chart. \u00a0Also, the ninth grade students will have an additional assignment pertaining to the book.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>If you have any questions, feel free to contact me or Chadi Farhat, McCollough-Unis Principal.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Good morning everyone, This week has the seventh grade students finishing the M-STEP ELA assessment.
