{"id":321,"date":"2017-05-11T07:44:20","date_gmt":"2017-05-11T11:44:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/drinkes\/?p=321"},"modified":"2017-05-11T07:44:20","modified_gmt":"2017-05-11T11:44:20","slug":"the-week-of-may-8-12-2017","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/drinkes\/2017\/05\/11\/the-week-of-may-8-12-2017\/","title":{"rendered":"The week of May 8 &#8211; 12, 2017"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Good morning,<\/p>\n<p>The 7th grade students are in the midst of taking the ELA M-STEP assessment . \u00a0Next week, the 6th grade students will take the ELA M-STEP assessment.<\/p>\n<p>Very soon, the building principal will be mailing letters home regarding summer school, summer blended, and summer learning. \u00a0<strong>Summer school<\/strong> is at Dearborn High School. \u00a0Each student will be required to pay his\/her tuition and find a ride to DHS. \u00a0Summer school is for students who have two or more failing grades on their report card. \u00a0<strong>Summer blended<\/strong> is for students that are two grades below in reading OR have not met the one year&#8217;s growth in reading. \u00a0<strong>Summer learning<\/strong> is for <em><strong>every<\/strong> <strong>student<\/strong><\/em> who is not in summer school nor summer blended. \u00a0The requirements for summer learning include reading 60 minutes per week over the summer on MobyMax. \u00a0In addition to MobyMax, each student will be required to read three books over the summer, fill out an index card with certain information for each book, and prepare a book talk for the teacher for one of the books in the fall. \u00a0The summer learning is a drastic change for many of our students. \u00a0This is an attempt to end the summer slide that takes place each year. \u00a0Educating oneself does not end because the summer arrives.<\/p>\n<p>Have a great week!!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Good morning, The 7th grade students are in the midst of taking the ELA M-STEP assessment . \u00a0Next week, the 6th grade students will take the ELA M-STEP assessment.
