{"id":289,"date":"2018-01-26T09:24:38","date_gmt":"2018-01-26T14:24:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/dpkendallhonorsphysics\/?page_id=289"},"modified":"2020-02-11T10:16:56","modified_gmt":"2020-02-11T15:16:56","slug":"class-rules-grading","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/dpkendallhonorsphysics\/class-rules-grading\/","title":{"rendered":"Class Rules \/ Grading"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Physics Mr. Kendall<br \/>School Year 2019-2020<\/p>\n<p>Room D-1<\/p>\n<p>Dearborn High School<\/p>\n<p>Classroom Behavior Expectations and Procedures:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Student Code of Conduct will be enforced at all times.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Be prompt to class.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Be attentive, polite, and courteous.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bring all materials to class: textbook, loose leaf paper, pen or pencil, calculator, planner. <\/span>It is recommended that you purchase a graphing calculator and learn to use it.\u00a0 Instructions for use will not be given during tests.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Stay in assigned area as directed and treat the classroom\/lab facility and equipment with care.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The teacher&#8217;s desk, workroom, office, storage room, closets, cabinets, etc. are off limits to students unless given permission.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Students must remain SEATED until the bell rings at the end of the hour.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cell phone use is NOT permitted at any time.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Evaluation and Grading Procedures:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">All assignments are due at the beginning of class unless stated differently.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Following an absence it is the responsibility of the<\/span><b> student<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to turn in and\/or make-up all missed assignments.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When you arrive to class each day a bellwork directive will be placed on the board.\u00a0 You will have about 1 minute after the tardy bell to complete this directive.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">All lab activities will be done in groups of 2-4.\u00a0 You are expected to be an active participant during lab. Each member of a group will be responsible for understanding the classroom learning just prior to the lab, the lab procedure, and how to use the data collected to achieve the objective(s) of the lab activity.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">All lab policies and procedures must be followed. Failure to do so will result in loss of lab privileges and a significant grade reduction due to missed work.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There will be an opportunity at the end of the semester to drop your lowest test grade if the following conditions are met: <\/span><b>Total # of Tardies &lt; 4 and One or Less Absences on Test Days.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Grades will be based on the following:<\/p>\n<p>Summative 80% &#8211; tests, quizzes and final exam<br \/>Formative 20% &#8211; homework, classwork, bellwork, labs<\/p>\n<p>Grades will be assigned using the following scale.
