{"id":97,"date":"2013-12-04T15:02:09","date_gmt":"2013-12-04T20:02:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/donoghk\/?p=97"},"modified":"2013-12-04T15:02:09","modified_gmt":"2013-12-04T20:02:09","slug":"geer-park-penny-war","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/donoghk\/2013\/12\/04\/geer-park-penny-war\/","title":{"rendered":"Geer Park Penny War!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The students had a school-wide writing assignment on generosity. \u00a0As a follow up, the students of Geer Park will be raising money for Ronald McDonald House. \u00a0It is a charity that helps provide assistance to families of sick children.<\/p>\n<p>From now until December 16 each class will be collecting pennies. \u00a0The class with the most pennies will receive a pizza party!<br \/>\nThere is a catch! \u00a0If a student brings in silver coins or dollar bills, they can drop them in a DIFFERENT class jar, which will subtract the from the amount of that class. \u00a0For example, if our class has 100 pennies and Mrs. Hider&#8217;s class dropped ten dimes in our jar, we would be back at zero. \u00a0So, we want pennies for our jar and silver coins and dollar bills for other class jars.<\/p>\n<p>The pennies can be dropped in the jars outside of the school office each morning before school. \u00a0The winner will be announced December 17.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The students had a school-wide writing assignment on generosity. \u00a0As a follow up, the students of Geer Park will be raising money for Ronald McDonald House. \u00a0It is a charity that helps provide assistance to families of sick children.
