We are looking to continue our First Lego League (FLL) team and FLL Junior team. We are recruiting 18-20 students in grades 1-5 to join our teams. If you are interested in robotics, designing and programming a robot, then think about applying to be on the team. If you think you are interested, write a short essay explaining why you believe you should be selected.<\/p>\n<p><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">We will be meeting once a week <span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_1869016624\"><span class=\"aQJ\">on Wednesday<\/span><\/span> mornings from <span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_1869016625\"><span class=\"aQJ\">7:45-8:30<\/span><\/span> and possibly <span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_1869016626\"><span class=\"aQJ\">Tuesday<\/span><\/span> afternoons from <span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_1869016627\"><span class=\"aQJ\">3:35-4:30<\/span><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">You will be selected on the following criteria:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Strong, edited, neatly written essay. Include at least 3 reasons why you would be a great candidate for robotics.\u00a0 It may be typed or handwritten.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Good attendance<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Behavior<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Teacher recommendation<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Parents and students must commit to dropping off and picking up their children on time and committing to at least \u00a0one Saturday competition in December (date to be determined).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">If you were in robotics this year, you still must apply again if you wish to be chosen for next year\u2019s team.<\/p>\n<p><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Write your short essay and turn in to Ms. Shalhout or Ms. Donoghue by <span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_1869016628\"><span class=\"aQJ\">Friday, June 8<\/span><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>FIRST LEGO LEAGUE ROBOTICS TEAM \u00a0 Dear Parents\/Families, \u00a0 Geer Park is embarking on our second year with robotics to further our STEAM initiative (science, technology, engineering, art, and math).
