Final Week!

Howdy Vikings!

Take the opportunity this week to do the following:

  1. Review your scores in Student Connect and turn in any missing work by this Thursday.
  2. If you did not complete the 38-question survey I asked you to do last week, do it NOW and then email me a note that says “I did the survey!”https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/DSHINESST2
  3. Parents have been asked to complete a “School Reopen Committee Parent Survey”. This survey was included in the latest email sent by the school, and has been included in several teacher blogs. Ask your parent to complete the survey if they did not do it yet.https://forms.gle/DNx3eN8hcRpXsfSs5
  4. Have a great summer and I look forward to seeing you next school year IN PERSON.

June 1-5: assignments

Hi Vikings:

If you complete the 38-question survey attached to this link—and email me a statement saying “I did the survey!”…then I will consider you done for this entire week. You do not need to check in; you do not need to maintain an exercise journal. Questions #22 thru #26 refer to activity lessons that were provided in the “middleschoolphysicaleducation” link that was updated within my blog on a daily basis.

I want you to do this survey…it should only take you about ten minutes…here it is:https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/DSHINESST2

Once you complete the above survey—email me a note that says “I did the survey” and you are done with Phys Ed assignments for the entire week of June 1-5. (But do stay active!…and continue to help out around the house)

If you would rather not do the survey listed above…then do the following: 1.)check in with me and say “hi.” 2.)maintain an exercise journal for the week and email it to me on Friday.

Here is the updated daily link for your information and possible use: https://iblog.dearbornschools.org/middleschoolphysicaleducation/

Have a great week! — Mr. Dobronski

Do this task as soon as you exit my blog. dobronk@dearbornschools.org
  2. EXERCISE JOURNAL—continue to add to your exercise journal and email it to me on Friday. (9 points) If you are confused as to what an exercise journal is…scroll down to my most recent previous blog entries and read about it.

April 20-24 assignments

  2. "Check in with me"...Reply to me right now and simply say “hello”…or write me a short note and let me know how things are going. Frequently Asked Question: WHAT IS THE EXERCISE JOURNAL?

Answer: Keep a weekly log/journal of your physical activities and exercises. Your goal is to get a minimum of 20 minutes of good physical exercise each day. Try to elevate your heart rate above 100 beats per minute to maximize the benefits of your exercise. You may create your journal in whatever way you feel best fits your needs. I would suggest you list out Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday—and each day write down the specific things that you did and approximately how many minutes you did each thing. Feel free to create a stretching routine and include that within your journal. At the end of the week, email me your journal entries (you can simply take a picture of the journal page or pages) and email it to me at dobronk@dearbornschools.org. You can use the “middleschoolphysicaleducation” link above (in green lettering) to provide you with daily exercise routines.Remember: your exercises or physical routines can be as simple as including taking your pet for a walk, etc. Just get out there and move!

GOOGLE HANGOUT—I have emailed you a Google Hangout invitation for Thursday (April 23) from 8-9am. I am just learning how to navigate this process, therefore, if you experience difficulty or impossibility to gain access to the hangout on Thursday morning, it is probably my fault. If that is the case, I will learn what I did wrong and try to correct it for next week. So—don’t worry about it if this is the case. I do look forward to seeing your faces and talking with you.

OFFICE HOURS—I have posted office hours for Tuesday, Apr 21 (1-2pm) and Wednesday, Apr 22 (10-11am). During those times I will be sitting at my computer and responding to any emails immediately. If you would like for me to call you, please email me your phone number during my office hours and I will dial you once I receive your email. You have no need or obligation to contact me during office hours—this is simply a mechanism in place in case you have questions that need direct response.

Another frequently asked QUESTION: I just looked up my grade on Student Connect and it says I have an “E.” How is that possible?

ANSWER: We recently entered the 4th marking period. As of this moment, only two assignments have been posted for the 4th period, and you apparently have not turned in one or both of those assignments. With such a low ratio assignments at this point, even one missing assignment will drag you down to a D or an E. Don’t panic…just turn in your missing work. As of this moment, the 4th marking period items that are overdue include last week’s (April 13-17) Exercise Journal and “checking in” (simply say HI) yesterday via email. Email both of them to me now and you are up to date. I will not penalize you for being late.

Tuesday, April 21—Get in 20-30 minutes of physical activity today and enter the information into your weekly journal. Check out the “middleschoolphysicaleducation” link and use some of the suggestions for your routine. Thanks to the many of you that have already checked in per my request and have let me know that you are out there. I gave each of you a bonus 5 points. The rest of you may still do the same, simply email me and say “hi” (dobronk@dearbornschools.org)

Wednesday, April 22—Reminder to everyone: “All work counts!” That is a district wide declaration and it applies to ALL of your classes. Those that failed to turn in assignments the past several weeks can start fresh; those that turned in assignments BOOSTED their grades. But now the rubber meets the road and everyone is considered 100 percent accountable to take care of business. Please…please…please…simply email me if you have any problems or questions that you feel are keeping you from catching up in any of your classes. Tip: make sure you “check in” with ALL of your teachers each week—simply say “hi” if nothing else. Let them know that you are out there so that they do not have to follow up with phone calls to your home. If you are having a hangup with one of your assignments, let them know what the problem is via email and you have also just “checked in.”

Thursday, April 23—Thanks to those of you that attended this mornings hangout. It was nice to see and hear you. We basically reviewed Physical Ed class expectations from this point forward . I also stressed that “all work counts–in all classes”…and…be sure to check in with each of your teachers at least once per week. Simply say “hi” to let them know you are out there and receiving their messages via email/blog/GoogleClassroom. Sometime Sunday night or early Monday morning I will post a new blog and send all of you an email detailing next week’s assignments. The blog posting and the email will both share the same information. If you simply read one or the other on Monday morning, you will be good for the week.

Friday, April 24-–get in a 20 minute workout this morning, include it in your exercise journal and email me your Exercise Journal for the week. You can simply take a picture of it and send it to me —dobronk@dearbornschools.org.

Have a great weekend Vikings!
