Dear First Grade Families,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Students do not have school on Friday, May 22 and Monday, May 25 because of the Memorial Day holiday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Here are the assignments for the week. I am posting assignments for the week on my blog, through Class dojo.com<\/a>, and through readworks.org<\/a>. Please help your child complete the assignments. At this point, students will be earning credit for doing school work and grades will be entered in the grade book. Students will receive a report card for the online work your child is doing at home. Please email me anytime if you have questions regarding your child\u2019s online assignments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Spelling – The spelling words for the week include words with different endings. The words include big, bigger, biggest, small, smaller, smallest quick, quicker, quickest, jump, jumps, jumper, jumping, happy, happier, and happiest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Monday – Have your child write rainbow words.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Tuesday – Have your child write sentences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Wednesday – Have your child write words in ABC order.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Thursday – Have your child write each word two times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Friday – Give your child a spelling test.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Reading – 20 minutes per day<\/p>\n\n\n\n Monday Reading – Log in to readworks.org<\/a> and read, \u201cA Butterfly\u2019s Life.\u201d Answer the questions and submit work. Read on Raz Kids for extra practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Tuesday Reading – Log in to readworks.org<\/a> and read \u201cWhat Is A Bird?\u201d Answer the questions and submit work. Read on Reading Eggs for extra practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Wednesday Reading – Log in to readworks.org<\/a> and read, \u201cWhat Lives In the Ocean?\u201d Answer the questions and submit work. Read on RAZ Kids for extra practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Thursday Reading – Read on Reading Eggs or RAZ Kids.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Friday Reading – Read on Reading Eggs or RAZ Kids.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Writing – 20 minutes per day<\/p>\n\n\n\n The writing can include the writing students are doing through readworks.org<\/a> and the following writing prompts. The only writing that needs to be turned in is the writing about their favorite animal. Please have your child write 5 sentences about their favorite animal and include a picture to go with the writing. The writing is due on Thursday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Monday – Write about your favorite animal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Tuesday – Write about your favorite day of the week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Wednesday – Write about your favorite month of the year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Thursday – Write about your favorite bird.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Friday – Write about your plans for the weekend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Math – 20 minutes per day<\/p>\n\n\n\n For Math practice, students can use Math Seeds or Zearn. Students can also practice counting money or telling time. Please have your child go to Knowledge on the Go or the Engage New York website to do the Eureka Math lessons. You can also use the Succeed Eureka Math book to practice the lessons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Monday – Do Lesson 3 in Module 5<\/p>\n\n\n\n Tuesday – Do Lesson 4 in Module 5<\/p>\n\n\n\n Wednesday – Do Lesson 5 in Module 5<\/p>\n\n\n\n Thursday – Practice math on Math Seeds or Zearn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Friday – Practice math on Math Seeds or Zearn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The only math that needs to be turned in to me are the two math pages I posted on Class dojo.com<\/a> on 5\/18 and 5\/19.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Science – Go to the Mystery Science website and follow the first grade Mystery Science lesson, \u201cHow Do Flowers Bloom In Spring?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Social Studies – Students are learning about history. Go to Class dojo.com<\/a> and follow the history lesson.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Please let me know if you need help with any of the online assignments. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The work that I would like your child to turn in by Thursday includes the writing about a favorite animal: the readworks.org<\/a> assignments for Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday; and the two math pages posted on Class dojo.com<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Here is the link for the Special Classes, including Art, Music, Gym, Technology and Media class. Please use this link so your child can do the activities for these classes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Haigh Specials, Support, and Special Ed. Learning Portals<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n On Tuesday May 19, between 1:00 – 3:00 p.m., you may come to Haigh to get your child’s things. There will be a drive through lane in front of the school. I will hand you your child’s things as you stay in your car. Also, I will be collecting your child’s book bag at this time.
