Dear First Grade Families,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Here are the assignments for the week. I am posting assignments for the week on my blog, through Class dojo.com<\/a>, and through readworks.org<\/a>. Please help your child complete the assignments. At this point, students will be earning credit for doing school work and grades will be entered in the grade book. Students will receive a report card for the online work your child is doing at home. Please email me anytime if you have questions regarding your child\u2019s online assignments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Spelling – The spelling words for the week include words that are contractions. The words include she\u2019s, he\u2019s, I\u2019m, didn\u2019t, can\u2019t, aren\u2019t, doesn\u2019t, she\u2019ll, who\u2019ll, let\u2019s, who\u2019s, don\u2019t, isn\u2019t, wasn\u2019t, hadn\u2019t, and we\u2019ll. This is for practice at home and does not need to be turned in to me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Monday – Have your child write rainbow words.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Tuesday – Have your child write sentences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Wednesday – Have your child write words in ABC order.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Thursday – Have your child write each word two times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Friday – Give your child a spelling test.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Reading – 20 minutes per day<\/p>\n\n\n\n Monday Reading – Log in to readworks.org<\/a> and read, \u201cWhat Plants Need.\u201d Answer the questions and submit work. Read on Raz Kids for extra practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Tuesday Reading – Log in to readworks.org<\/a> and read \u201cPlants Make Their Own Food.\u201d Answer the questions and submit work. Read on Reading Eggs for extra practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Wednesday Reading – Log in to readworks.org<\/a> and read, \u201cButterflies and Flowers.\u201d Answer the questions and submit work. Read on RAZ Kids for extra practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Thursday Reading – Read on Reading Eggs or RAZ Kids.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Friday Reading – Read on Reading Eggs or RAZ Kids.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Writing – 20 minutes per day<\/p>\n\n\n\n The writing can include the writing students are doing through readworks.org<\/a> and the following writing prompts. The only writing that students need to turn in by Thursday is the writing prompt for Monday. Please have your child write 5 sentences describing their favorite book and draw a picture to go with the writing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Monday – Write about your favorite book.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Tuesday. – Write about your favorite movie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Wednesday – Write about your favorite food.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Thursday. – Write about your favorite dessert.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Friday – Write about your favorite flower.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Math – 20 minutes per day<\/p>\n\n\n\n For Math practice, students can use Math Seeds or Zearn. Students can also practice counting money or telling time. Please have your child go to Knowledge on the Go or the Engage New York website to do the Eureka Math lessons. You can also use the Succeed Eureka Math book to practice the lessons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Monday – Do Lesson 29 in Module 4<\/p>\n\n\n\n Tuesday – Do Lesson 1 in Module 5<\/p>\n\n\n\n Wednesday – Do Lesson 2 in Module 5<\/p>\n\n\n\n Thursday – Practice math on Math Seeds or Zearn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Friday – Practice math on Math Seeds or Zearn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The only math that needs to be turned in to me are the two math pages I posted on Class dojo.com<\/a> on 5\/11 and 5\/12.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Science – Go to the Mystery Science website and follow the first grade Mystery Science lesson, \u201cWhy don\u2019t trees blow down in the wind?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Social Studies – Students are learning about family history. Please have your child listen to the story, Talking With Grandpa in Class Dojo under Class Story, and do the assignment. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Please let me know if you need help with any of the online assignments. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The work that I would like your child to turn in by Thursday includes the writing about a favorite book; the readworks.org<\/a> assignments for Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday; and the two math pages posted on Class dojo.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Here is the link for the Special Classes, including Art, Music, Gym, Technology and Media class. Parents and students can not come into the school. There will be a drive through lane in front of the school. I will give you your child’s things as you stay in your car. Also, I will be collecting your child’s book bag. This is the only day we have scheduled to get your child’s things.
