Dear First Grade Families,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Here are the online assignments for the week. I am posting assignments for the week on my blog, through Class Dojo, and through readworks.org<\/a>. Please help your child complete the assignments. At this point, students will be earning credit for doing school work and grades will be entered in the grade book. Students will receive a report card that will include the online school work your child is doing at home. Please email me anytime with any questions you have regarding your child’s assignments. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Spelling – The Spelling words for the week include words with – ow. The words are owl, town, frown, clown, tower. The sight words are own, together, shall, flower, and power.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Monday – Have your child write rainbow words.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Tuesday – Have your child write sentences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Wednesday – Have your child write words in ABC order.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Thursday – Have your child write each word two times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Friday – Give your child a spelling test.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Reading – 20 minutes per day<\/p>\n\n\n\n Monday Reading – Log in to readworks.org<\/a> and read, \u201cMaria Recycles.\u201d Answer the questions and submit work. Read on RAZ Kids for extra practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Tuesday Reading – Log in to readworks.org<\/a> and read, \u201cGarbage In the Ocean.\u201d Answer the questions and submit work. Read on Reading Eggs for extra practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Wednesday Reading – Log in to readworks.org<\/a> and read, \u201cA Day To Celebrate Earth.\u201d Answer the questions and submit work. Read on RAZ Kids for extra practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Thursday Reading – Read on Reading Eggs, RAZ Kids, or read books at home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Friday Reading – Read on RAZ Kids, Reading Eggs, or read books at home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Writing – 20 minutes per day<\/p>\n\n\n\n The 20 minutes can include the writing that is done with the readworks.org<\/a> articles and the following writing prompt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Informational Writing – Write four ways people can protect Earth. Draw a picture to go with the writing. The writing is due on Friday, April 24. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The writing will include a topic sentence, four ways people can protect Earth, and a closing sentence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Writing Plan<\/p>\n\n\n\n Topic Sentence Example<\/p>\n\n\n\n Earth is important for all living things. Use a cloth towel instead of a paper towel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n People can reuse things to make other things.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Keep the air clean with less pollution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Save water by using less water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Plant trees or a garden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Use less energy by turning off lights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Use less energy by riding a bike instead of driving in a car.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Monday – Plan writing. Draw a picture plan<\/p>\n\n\n\n Tuesday – Write <\/p>\n\n\n\n Wednesday – Write. Correct spelling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Thursday – Write final copy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Friday – Read to someone and turn in writing. The writing can be turned in through Class dojo.com<\/a> or you can take a picture of the writing and email it to me at dobrong@dearbornschools.org<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Math – 20 minutes per day<\/p>\n\n\n\n For Math practice, students can use Math Seeds and Zearn. Students can also practice counting money and telling time. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Please have your child go to the Engage New York website or to Knowledge on the Go to do the Eureka Math lessons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Monday – Do Lesson 16 in Module 4. Go to Class dojo.com<\/a> and do the math page 4\/20.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Tuesday – Do Lesson 17. Go to Class dojo.com<\/a> and do the math page 4\/21.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Wednesday – Do Lesson 18.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Thursday – Do Lesson 19.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Friday – Do Lesson 20.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The only math work that needs to be turned in to me are the two math pages I posted on Class dojo.com<\/a> on 4\/20 and 4\/21. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Science – Go to Mystery science.com<\/a> and follow the first grade Mystery Science lesson, \u201cWhy Do Baby Ducks Follow Their Mother?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Social Studies – Students will be learning about history and ways to keep track of time. We are learning about past, present and future time. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Have your child draw a picture of themselves in the past, present, and what they think they will look like in the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Please let me know if you need any help with the assignments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The work that I would like your child to turn in to me this week by Friday, April 24, includes the informational writing about ways to protect Earth; the readworks.org<\/a> questions; and the two math pages 4\/20 and 4\/21 on Class Dojo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Ms. Conrad, our Music teacher, would like students to go to her blog to find assignments for Music class.
