Students will receive a report card that will include the online school work your child is doing at home.  Please email me anytime with any questions you have regarding your child&#8217;s assignments.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Spelling &#8211; The Spelling words for the week include words with&nbsp; &#8211; ow.&nbsp; The words are owl, town, frown, clown, tower.&nbsp; The sight words are own, together, shall, flower, and power.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Monday &#8211; Have your child write rainbow words.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tuesday &#8211; Have your child write sentences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wednesday &#8211; Have your child write words in ABC order.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thursday &#8211; Have your child write each word two times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Friday &#8211; Give your child a spelling test.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Reading &#8211; 20 minutes per day<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Monday Reading &#8211;  Log in to <a href=\"http:\/\/readworks.org\">readworks.org<\/a> and read, \u201cMaria Recycles.\u201d&nbsp; Answer the questions and submit work. Read on RAZ Kids for extra practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thursday Reading &#8211;  Read on Reading Eggs, RAZ Kids, or read books at home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Friday Reading &#8211;  Read on RAZ Kids, Reading Eggs, or read books at home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Writing &#8211; 20 minutes per day<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 20 minutes can include the writing that is done with the <a href=\"http:\/\/readworks.org\">readworks.org<\/a> articles and the following writing prompt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Informational Writing &#8211; Write four ways people can protect Earth.&nbsp; Draw a picture to go with the writing.  The writing is due on Friday, April 24.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The writing will include a topic sentence, four ways people can protect Earth, and a closing sentence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Writing Plan<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Topic Sentence Example<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Earth is important for all living things.&nbsp; There are many ways to protect Earth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>First,&nbsp; &nbsp; ( Write a way to protect Earth. )<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Next,&nbsp; &nbsp; (Write a way to protect Earth. )<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then, &nbsp; ( Write a way to protect Earth. )<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Last,&nbsp; &nbsp; (Write a way to protect Earth. )<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Closing Sentence Stem Example<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is important to protect Earth because ____________________________.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ways To Protect Earth Possible Writing Ideas<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>People can recycle and things can be used to make other things.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>People can reduce waste.&nbsp; Use a cloth towel instead of a paper towel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>People can reuse things to make other things.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Keep the air clean with less pollution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Save water by using less water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Plant trees or a garden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Use less energy by turning off lights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Use less energy by riding a bike instead of driving in a car.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Monday &#8211; Plan writing.&nbsp; Draw a picture plan<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tuesday &#8211; Write&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wednesday &#8211; Write.&nbsp; Correct spelling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thursday &#8211; Write final copy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Friday &#8211; Read to someone and turn in writing.&nbsp; The writing can be turned in through Class <a href=\"http:\/\/dojo.com\">dojo.com<\/a> or you can take a picture of the writing and email it to me at <a href=\"mailto:dobrong@dearbornschools.org\">dobrong@dearbornschools.org<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Math &#8211; 20 minutes per day<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For Math practice, students can use Math Seeds and Zearn.&nbsp; Students can also practice counting money and telling time. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please have your child go to the Engage New York website or to Knowledge on the Go to do the Eureka Math lessons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Monday &#8211; Do Lesson 16 in Module 4.&nbsp; Go to Class <a href=\"http:\/\/dojo.com\">dojo.com<\/a> and do the math page 4\/20.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tuesday &#8211; Do Lesson 17.&nbsp; Go to Class <a href=\"http:\/\/dojo.com\">dojo.com<\/a> and do the math page 4\/21.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wednesday &#8211; Do Lesson 18.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thursday &#8211; Do Lesson 19.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Friday &#8211; Do Lesson 20.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The only math work that needs to be turned in to me are the two math pages I posted on Class <a href=\"http:\/\/dojo.com\">dojo.com<\/a> on 4\/20 and 4\/21. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Science &#8211; Go to Mystery <a href=\"http:\/\/science.com\">science.com<\/a> and follow the first grade&nbsp; Mystery Science lesson, \u201cWhy Do Baby Ducks Follow Their Mother?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Social Studies &#8211; Students will be learning about history and ways to keep track of time.&nbsp; We are learning about past, present and future time. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Have your child draw a picture of themselves in the past, present, and what they think they will look like in the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please let me know if you need any help with the assignments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The work that I would like your child to turn in to me this week by Friday, April 24, includes the informational writing about ways to protect Earth; the <a href=\"http:\/\/readworks.org\">readworks.org<\/a> questions; and the two math pages 4\/20 and 4\/21 on Class Dojo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ms. Conrad, our Music teacher, would like students to go to her blog to find assignments for Music class.
