This is the first day of the second report card marking period. \u00a0Students will receive their first report card during Parent and Teacher Conferences.<\/p>\n
Math lessons will now focus on learning about patterns; counting up and back using a number line and number grid; even and odd numbers; telling time; counting money; place value; addition; subtraction and story problems.<\/p>\n
Reading lessons will include an emphasis on informational text as students learn about text features.<\/p>\n
Students are learning about opinion writing in which they state their opinion about a topic, write reasons to support their opinion, and provide a closing sentence.<\/p>\n
Our next Social Studies unit of study is What Is A Family? \u00a0Students will learn ways families are alike and different. \u00a0Students will learn how families have rules, responsibilities, and work together to help each other.<\/p>\n
Science lessons will focus on learning about light waves. \u00a0Students will learn about how different sources of light illuminate objects so we can see them.<\/p>\n
Students will visit the Haigh Scholastic Book Fair on Monday, November 13. \u00a0They may bring money to purchase books at school on that day.<\/p>\n
Reminders: \u00a0Read 15 minutes or more for homework and record minutes on the November reading log. \u00a0Return library books on Monday. \u00a0Wear gym shoes on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
