Here is an outline of what first grade students will be learning this week.<\/p>\n
During Reading, students are working in groups part of the time. \u00a0They will receive leveled books throughout the week. \u00a0Monday through Thursday, students will read 15 – 20 minutes for homework and complete a daily reading response log. \u00a0The book and reading response log will be sent home in a book bag. \u00a0Please have your child return the bag each day.<\/p>\n
The weekly spelling list will be sent home Monday. \u00a0Please continue reviewing the words with your child during the week. \u00a0Spelling test is Friday.<\/p>\n
Math lessons will continue to include addition; counting by 2’s and 5’s; and use of a number line. \u00a0Students will also complete story problems and use a number grid to count.<\/p>\n
During Science, students learn about important skills scientists use to explore. \u00a0Students learn how scientists communicate by writing notes to discuss information. \u00a0They will also learn about making inferences and predictions during experiments.<\/p>\n
During Social Studies, students will learn about the importance of studying history. \u00a0Key concepts include past, present and future.<\/p>\n
Please have your child return library books Friday.<\/p>\n
Tuesday is our PE (Gym) Day. \u00a0Please have your child wear or bring gym shoes Tuesday.<\/p>\n
