It can be for just 10 minutes per night, but it will greatly improve their reading, writing, and math. You could do 10 minutes of reading eggs on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Then do 10 minutes of math seeds on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday or Sunday. Feel free to do more than 10 minutes if your schedule allows! These programs really are beneficial for the growth and development of your child!<\/p>\n<p>If you misplaced your child\u2019s login and need the information again, please email me at dimitrm@dearbornschools.org<\/p>\n<p>Today a poster came home with our first Star Student! Each week I will send a poster home with a different child on Friday. The poster is to be completed over the weekend and sent back to school on Monday. We will learn about the Star Student throughout the week and then write a book about that child on Friday. This is a special time for the children. Please continue to work with your child on these words. A list of these words came home in their folder with a check mark next to the words they were able to read and highlighted if they could not read the word. List two will be the next list that is assessed on November 16. Please review these words as well as the words on list one with your child.<\/p>\n<p>We worked on recognizing and writing the letter H and the letter S. We learned the sound of each letter and practiced identifying objects that begin with each letter sound. We have also been working to identify periods, question marks, and exclamation marks (excited mark) while reading. Choose the size you would like, size 2 or size 3 are best. Then click print.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Math:\u00a0<\/strong>We practiced recognizing, writing and representing numbers 17 and 18. We continued working with 2D and 3D shapes. We are still working on counting by 1&#8217;s, 5&#8217;s, and 10&#8217;s. Please practice these skills with your children at home and use the videos below to support their learning.<\/p>\n<p>We continue working on subitizing. This is the ability to recognize a number or quantity at first sight. It might be fingers, tally marks, dots in a ten frame, or different objects to represent a number. The children are learning about different types of weather this month. We will focus on sun, rain, and clouds. We talked about how to dress for different kinds of weather and learned lots of weather words. We will be learning about weather for the next few months and the children will have the opportunity to do some hands-on experiments!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Social Studies:<\/strong>\u00a0We are moving into our needs and wants unit. The children talked with one another about items they think are things they need and items they think are wants. We will continue talking more about this topic and participate in different activities next week.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The children had a great day on Halloween. Our party was a big success and the parade was so much fun! below:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Change of Clothes<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE\u00a0<\/strong>send in a change of clothes for your child. We will keep it in their locker and then if they have a bathroom accident or fall in mud or get wet from the playground, they will have clothes they can change into and we can take care of all that right here at school without having to disturb you at home or at work. Put an extra change of clothes (pants, underwear, shirt, socks, and maybe even an extra pair of shoes) in a bag, labeled with their name on it.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Snack Time<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>**** Due to a peanut allergy in our room, please do not send in any snacks that contain nuts.*****<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Folders<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Please make sure to\u00a0<strong>empty\u00a0<\/strong>the green folders each night! It is very difficult and time consuming to locate homework or important notes when the folder is full of papers from the day before.
