Unfortunately, the children missed their library Check-Out time. We will attend library on Monday. We learned the sound of each letter and practiced identifying objects that begin with each letter sound. Please continue to help your child correctly hold a pencil and form each letter.<\/p>\n<p>We continue practicing our Daily 5 routines and procedures. the children are building stamina and are able to sit in a rotation for a longer amount of time each day.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>If your child is still struggling with writing their name, please practice at home! If you would like name tracers for your child, visit the website below:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.handwritingworksheets.com\/flash\/printdots\/singleword\/index.html\">https:\/\/www.handwritingworksheets.com\/flash\/printdots\/singleword\/index.html<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Directions: Scroll down until you see a gray rectangle which says, \u201cStep 1: Enter student name, then type your child\u2019s name in the first box and the second one which says, \u201cword.\u201d Choose the size you would like, size 2 or size 3 are best. Then click print.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>We learned about positional words (or prepositions) such as in, out, above, below, between, on, off, up, down. The children completed a cute activity where they paired up with a partner and I gave directions on where to put their hands (ex. on your partner&#8217;s head, in your own pockets, below your chin, etc). We continue talking about shapes and began learning about patterns. The children learned how to play an interactive game on the Promethean board and were introduced to AB, AABB, ABC pattern sequences. We will continue to work more with patterns over the next few weeks.<\/p>\n<p>We have been working on place value through counting the days of the year and learning that numbers in the teens start with a one.\u00a0 This is important, because many of the children mix these numbers up and call 13 the number 31 instead. Later this month the children will be able to experience our &#8220;skeleton centers.&#8221; The children will take part in many activities to help them learn about the parts of the body.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Social Studies:<\/strong>\u00a0We continue to discuss and model being a good friend and what it looks like to follow the rules. Students have been earning &#8220;hoots.&#8221; Hoots are given out when children are being good friends, following directions, etc. The hoot raffle takes place each Monday and the name drawn from the class bucket, gets to choose a prize!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Housekeeping Items:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I know these items have been repeated for a few weeks, but I still need your help in implementing the items below:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Snack Time<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>**** Due to a peanut allergy in our room, please do not send in any snacks that contain nuts.*****<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Please be sure to put the snack in a separate place from their lunch. Please show your child where you will put their snack each day in order to foster independence for them. Sometimes, when the snack is packed inside the lunchbox, the children try to eat their whole lunch at snack time. Thank you for your assistance in separating your child\u2019s snack and lunch.<\/p>\n<p>Snacks should be healthy to provide the children with energy for their day. Please send a simple snack such as fruit, vegetables, cheese, and crackers. Please do not send candy as a snack.\u00a0<strong>Juice is not allowed in our classroom<\/strong>. Please do not send any kind of juice box with your child for snack time. The children may\u00a0have the juice for lunch in the cafeteria.<\/p>\n<p><b>Money<\/b><\/p>\n<p>When you send money in for lunches, field trips, etc. please place it in a bag or an envelope and label it with your child\u2019s name. Thank you!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Folders<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Please make sure to\u00a0<strong>empty\u00a0<\/strong>the green folders each night! It is very difficult and time consuming to locate homework or important notes when the folder is full of papers from the day before.
