{"id":256,"date":"2018-09-18T14:46:42","date_gmt":"2018-09-18T18:46:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/dexter\/?p=256"},"modified":"2018-09-18T14:46:42","modified_gmt":"2018-09-18T18:46:42","slug":"week-of-september-17th","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/dexter\/2018\/09\/18\/week-of-september-17th\/","title":{"rendered":"Week of September 17th"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Wednesday, September 19th is our first Late Start day!\u00a0 Classes will begin at 9:00am.<\/p>\n<p>Here is what we are working on this week in class:<\/p>\n<p><strong>ELA<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Spelling words: punish, divisible, until, valuable, annual, subtraction, remainder, useful, energy, excuse, square, shuttle, education, inertia, mustard, costume, cultural, human, interaction, justify.<\/li>\n<li>We are continuing to work on finding support in text for inferences about characters.<\/li>\n<li>We are also drafting and revising our personal narratives.<\/li>\n<li>Students are really loving &#8220;Fish in a Tree.&#8221; Discuss each day the events of the story with your child.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Math<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>We are continuing to work with place value using a new place value chart.<\/li>\n<li>Each homework assignment that comes home has a homework helper to help assist your child with their homework.\u00a0 Please reach out if you need extra\u00a0 help.\u00a0 Not all problems will be assigned.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Science<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>We are going to continue to work with vinegar and salt to watch pennies turn shiny.<\/li>\n<li>We learned that pennies turn brown because of oxidation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Social Studies<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>We studied the Constitution on Constitution day September 17th.<\/li>\n<li>We are going to continue to study government with the three branches of government.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Wednesday, September 19th is our first Late Start day!\u00a0 Classes will begin at 9:00am.
