Include your child when making a list, reading a recipe, jotting down an email, etc.  Read to them before they go to bed at night.  You can read them a story they may be interested in, but not quite ready to read on their own.  All of this develops vocabulary &amp; interest.  Please share stories with them about your families and when you were young.  Reading in your native language is also a benefit.  Children need to see you reading for pleasure too.
