{"id":1414,"date":"2020-04-22T10:26:13","date_gmt":"2020-04-22T14:26:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/dagherd\/?p=1414"},"modified":"2020-04-22T10:26:19","modified_gmt":"2020-04-22T14:26:19","slug":"google-meet-rules-norms","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/dagherd\/2020\/04\/22\/google-meet-rules-norms\/","title":{"rendered":"Google Meet Rules\/Norms"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Yesterday, Tuesday 4\/21, was our first science Google Meet video conference session.&nbsp;&nbsp;I have to say that it did not go as planned.&nbsp;&nbsp;Most students were there for the right reason and conducted themselves in a very mature manner.&nbsp;&nbsp;I am so proud and thankful for that.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, there were a number of students that were misusing the comment section.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Many were discussing movies, video games, and using acronyms that contained letters that represented curse words.&nbsp;&nbsp;This is ABSOLUTLY UNACCEPTABLE and does not follow our school\u2019s code of conduct.&nbsp;&nbsp;I will be we contacting the parents of individual students today.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Moving forward, students who misuse this tool, will be removed from the session and reported to administration.&nbsp;&nbsp;I will not allow them back in to subsequent sessions until administration advises me to do so.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-large-font-size\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"128\" height=\"148\" src=\"blob:https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/3145245e-a8be-4186-ab5f-b3c6f446fa66\" alt=\"https:\/\/lh3.googleusercontent.com\/-i1s-8e-2j6Gd2CVya2FEc1ju_loatlqDQYH7vK-NgHkgNHgTfuxqvnVkHdiz5n3mLq-Ns4A2fZIHFrLAXpVE5T2qzwO8K6gqw3ZiMAqZowfCillOvMEXYqvvhMzpjUq3u9NkLji\">Google Hangout Norms<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Log on 5 minutes before start time to make sure everything is working correctly.\u00a0 I will be starting on time<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Log in with your student account only. I will delete any unknown names<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Microphones are off unless you are told otherwise<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>&nbsp;The message section is for content related comments only. No extra comments please.<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>If you have a question do one of these things in the message section:<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>Type a question mark (?)<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>Type your question<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>Wait to be called on before you ask you question.<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>You must remain in the meeting until you are dismissed by your teacher.
