I can’t believe tomorrow is the last day of school already. Students will dismissed at 11:45 tomorrow morning.
Thank you for a wonderful school year. I hope you have a safe, restful, and wonderful summer. See you next year!!
Today is our Zoo Trip!! Everyone including Chaperones need to be at school by 8:30, so we can have you checked in, on last bathroom stop and ready to get on the bus by 8:55. Chaperones, you and your child need a sack lunch with a disposable drink. Please apply sunscreen before your child comes to school.
I can’t wait to see everybody.
I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend and staying cool. I have a couple of quick reminders.
We have a Parent Meeting on Tuesday, at 10:00, before the Family Picnic. At the meeting we will be talking about the Read by Third Grade Law, the Summer Bridge Books, and writing activities you can do with your child. If you are unable to attend, a family member can come in your place.
Our End of the Year Family Picnic, will take place later on Tuesday. We are still in need of items for the celebration. If you have already signed up, thank you so much. If not, or you are able to help donate other items, please visit our sign up. Here is the link for the signup genius:
It is supposed to be hot on Wednesday, the day of our Zoo trip. Make sure that your child is dressed for the weather and has on sunscreen, and comfortable walking shoes. Please make sure you have a lunch and a disposable drink for your child and yourself if your are chaperoning. If you are chaperoning, you will need to have a bag to carry your groups lunches in. Finally, both you and your child will need to be at school by 8:30 Wednesday morning. We will need help getting students through the bathrooms one last time and on the bus ready to go at 9:00.
Thank you so much for all your help and support. Please let me know if you have any questions.
I hope you are enjoying the cooler weather. I had just a couple of quick reminders:
Spring picture money is due ASAP. You only need to pay for what you keep. If you do not want to keep your child’s pictures, then you would return the package to school.
Farmer John permission slip and money are due tomorrow. If you have already turned everything in then you are all set.
Please continue to read and work on your child’s sight words daily. I will be collecting book baggies at the end of next week. So, I will be meeting with your child one more time for a new book.
This week and next week incoming Kindergarteners are visiting our classrooms. The kids are doing a good job leading and showing the other students around.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
I realized after everyone left that I forgot to mention tomorrow is a “Late Start”. Students will come in at 9:35 instead of 8:35.
The kids started sharing their “Animal Posters” today. They did a very nice job. We will continue having children share till the “Talking Zoo” on Friday. We can’t wait to see you there.
Thank you for all your hard work!!
Good Afternoon Families,
The kids and I are super excited to see all of our moms, or grandmas, or aunts, on Friday for our Mother’s Day Tea. The Tea is from 2:30-3:15.
Just a quick reminder that our “Talking Zoo” will take place on Friday, May 19th from 2:30-3:15 in the Media Center. Please check your child’s folder for the note about the “Talking Zoo.”
If you have not turned in your child’s permission slip and money, for the Detroit Zoo, we need it ASAP. Also, if you plan on Chaperoning, please check with me regarding your background check. I have the form for you to fill out in my classroom.
Finally, please take a few minutes and fill out the “Leader in Me” parent survey. Your feedback would be greatly appreciated. Here is the link:
Thank you for all your help and support.
I had a couple of upcoming things to share with you.
The first half of the students, “Talking Zoo Project” (the yellow fact sheet), is due this Friday, April 28th. I will make a copy of the fact sheet and send the copy home with your child, so he or she can finish the second half of the project. The second half of the project is a poster board display with pictures and 3-4 facts about your child’s animal. The posters are due on Friday, May 12th. As part of their grade, the children will be sharing their posters with class.
Friday, May, 12th, is our Mother’s Day Tea. Please join us for songs, light refreshments and a chance to visit our classroom. If you are unable to attend, a grandparent or aunt is welcome. My goal is to make sure that every child has someone here for them.
Friday, May 19th will be our Talking Zoo presentation for families. I am asking that your child come to school with a costume representing their animal. The costume can be as simple as your child wearing black and white to school if they were a penguin. Place items your child will need in a reusable shopping bag. Masks are acceptable as long as your child can speak loudly and clearly, and air is able to move freely in and out of the mask.
Finally, I will need your zoo permission slips back as soon as you can. If you would like to volunteer, I will need your I-chat (background check) done as quickly as possible. I have the forms in my classroom. Please check with me if you think you need one or if you are not sure if yours is up to date.
Thank you so much for all your help and support!!
Tomorrow is a Late Start Day for all students. I will see you tomorrow at 9:35 instead of 8:35.
It is a busy time of year. I realized that I never posted about our Spring Celebration this Thursday, April 13th, from 2:00-3:00 I understand that this is really last minute and I am sorry. As part of our Spring Celebration, we will be doing a egg hunt. If you could please send in 6 pre-filled plastic eggs that would be wonderful. Our goal is to have enough eggs so that the children can each hunt 6 eggs. We would need the eggs no later than Thursday morning. I will also need a couple of volunteers to come in that day as well. I will need someone to come and help us hide the eggs as well as a couple of parents to help the children find the eggs.
Please let me know ASAP of you are able to come in and help Thursday afternoon.
Thank you again for all your help and support.
The kids did a fantastic job in the concert tonight. I would like to extend a special “Thank You” to Mrs. Webber for putting the concert together.
I realized after everyone left today, that I still had report cards sitting on my desk for students who didn’t have conferences last night. I will send the report cards home tomorrow!! Wayne RESA had a problem with their computers this week so, some of the Language Arts grades and Math grades have been written in by hand. Also a lot of the students grades in Language Arts under RLK appear to have gone down from the 2nd marking period to the 3rd. That is not the case. More standards were assessed in the third marking period under RLK, than in the in the second, and that caused their grade to go from a 1 (Exceeding) to a 3 (Progressing).
Please mark your calendars for the Parent Meeting on Monday, April 10th. The time was changed from 6:00 to 5:45. We will be talking about the impact that the new “Read by Third Grade” law will have on your child, as well as, strategies that you can use to work with your child at home. It is very important that you attend.
Finally, school closes at the end of the day tomorrow for our Spring Break. School will re-open on Monday, April 10th.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
