It is a school rule that no gum is allowed and this is something I strictly enforce.  Many students try to pretend they never knew the rules, or they forgot.  <\/p>\n<p>As this was stated in my syllabus, signed by both you and your student, I am no longer going to give students a second chance.  <\/p>\n<p>I know they are aware and understand this rule, so I want to make you aware that ALL students who are caught with gum, candy, or other food in this classroom will be assigned a detention.  I have been doing this for several weeks, but wanted to share the information with all parents as well.  This is not something that I want to do, but it seems the only way to get the point across at this juncture.
