{"id":346,"date":"2017-03-17T09:51:44","date_gmt":"2017-03-17T13:51:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/chamseddine\/?p=346"},"modified":"2017-03-17T11:19:45","modified_gmt":"2017-03-17T15:19:45","slug":"week-of-march-20-2017","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/chamseddine\/2017\/03\/17\/week-of-march-20-2017\/","title":{"rendered":"Week of March 20, 2017"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>This week in 5th grade we will be learning&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Language Arts:<\/u><\/strong> This week students will continue\u00a0learning about theme and making connections in reading.\u00a0While, they are reading each student will focus on a specific reading strategy (main idea, story elements, sequence of events, and parts of speech). \u00a0During Daily 5 students will continue practicing Daily 5 procedures and focus on learning about various strategies that will help make them better readers. \u00a0We will be focusing on QAR strategies to help them answer comprehension questions. \u00a0In writing we will be focusing on opinion writing.\u00a0 Students will have to read\u00a0an informational article set to their level on Frontrowed.com (same login and password as the math) with guided reading questions everyday.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Vocabulary Words<\/span>&#8211; \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Peoples of the Nation and World<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Adapt<\/strong>\u00a0&#8211; to change in order to fit new environmental conditions.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Community<\/strong>\u00a0&#8211; the language, traditions, beliefs, clothing, and activities of a group of people.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Custom<\/strong>\u00a0&#8211; something that has been done for a long time and is widely accepted .<\/li>\n<li><strong>Diversity<\/strong>\u00a0&#8211; variety.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Environment<\/strong>\u00a0&#8211; the geographic characteristics that surround and affect the way people live.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Interaction<\/strong>\u00a0&#8211; the act of doing something with others or having influence with others.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Interdependence\/interdependent<\/strong>\u00a0&#8211; the act of needing each other for help or support.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Migrate\/migration\/immigration<\/strong>\u00a0&#8211; to move from one country or region to another with the intent of staying at that place for a long period of time.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Modify<\/strong>\u00a0&#8211;
