{"id":22,"date":"2015-10-18T07:26:38","date_gmt":"2015-10-18T11:26:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/defaulttemplate1\/?page_id=22"},"modified":"2018-03-14T16:08:27","modified_gmt":"2018-03-14T20:08:27","slug":"class-info","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/cassidn\/class-info\/","title":{"rendered":"Class Info"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><b>DEARBORN HIGH SCHOOL <\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><b>BEHAVIORAL EXPECTATIONS AND ACADEMIC SUMMARY<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>2017 \u2013 2018<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>All DHS Art Classes<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Staff Availability \u2013<\/b> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Teachers are available for assistance and conferences after school on most Tuesdays until 3:00 P.M. or by scheduled appointment, usually in room L-1. \u00a0It is always best to check ahead with the teacher due to staff and department meetings.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Parents,<\/b> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">for your convenience the program will allow you to view your child\u2019s progress from your home computer once you have obtained a password from the student office. \u00a0Further questions or concerns may be addressed by phone or e-mail.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Fees \u2013<\/b> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In all art classes students will be charged a nominal fee to off set the cost of materials. \u00a0Fees are expected to be paid during the first 10 days of the semester.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>DESCRIPTION OF CLASS <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(See Link to the RIGHT):<\/span><\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><b>BRIEF OUTLINE OF CLASS <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(See Link to theRIGHT):<\/span><\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><b>CLASSROOM BEHAVIOR EXPECTATIONS:<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u00a0Practice the \u201cCore Values\u201d and good manners at all times which includes no bullying!<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u00a0The Student Code of Conduct is in effect. \u00a0Familiarize yourself with, learn, and practice the appropriate procedures and behaviors as directed in the D.H.S. code book.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u00a0\u00a0Learn and practice all procedures specific to the art room.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u00a0\u00a0Planners are required daily.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u00a0\u00a0\u201cCheck yourself\u201d, monitor your own behavior and progress. \u00a0Strive for your best performance.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u00a0\u00a0Observe the phone policy: <\/span><b>Red Zone<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\/ No Phones Allowed in classrooms unless instructed by the teacher. \u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0 No photographs are to be taken in class or shared electronically. <\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>\u00a0 Green Zone<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\/Phone Allowed in Hallways- during passing time and cafeteria at lunch.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol>\n<li><b> \u00a0\u00a0<\/b><b>ART CLASSROOM PROCEDURES:<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Be seated before the bell rings at the beginning and end of each period. \u00a0Upon entering the classroom check the board for directives about the day\u2019s activities, objectives and bell work.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bring all necessary materials to class, including your planner. \u00a0Always have a pencil.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Be courteous, cooperative and responsible.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Food, caps, coats, electronic games, expensive headsets or other unnecessary items are to be left outside of \u00a0class.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Identify all of your work with: \u00a0your first and last name, class, period, and the date, in a way that will not deface the art work.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Plan ahead. \u00a0When materials are passed out ask for all the supplies you will need for the entire period. \u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is expected that all students will exercise good judgment and appropriate behavior at all times. \u00a0Under no circumstances should you use paper cutters, knives, gouges or other sharp or potentially dangerous tools without permission, proper information and instruction from the teacher. \u00a0Safety First!<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is recommended that you leave valuables in your locker; items such as cash, phones, headsets and all other electronic equipment\/games are your sole responsibility. \u00a0Keep in mind that you may be moving around the room to obtain a variety of supplies in this class and\/or switching rooms.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><b>DEPARTMENTAL POLICIES:<\/b><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><b> \u00a0<\/b><b>MAKE-UP WORK:<\/b> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The student is responsible for completing all the requirements for the class. \u00a0Immediately following the day(s) of absence, the student should seek the direction of the teacher after school to find out how the missed work time can be made-up.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li><b>STUDENT LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION: \u00a0<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">All students requesting a letter of recommendation must provide the referring teacher with a complete written list of art activities and classes pertinent to the referral. \u00a0Note &#8211; a minimum of a one week advanced notice is mandatory for all referrals. \u00a0Referrals are only to be used for educational purposes and will be mailed directly to the institution, please provide pre-addressed and stamped envelope.<\/span><\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><b>PORTFOLIO PREPARATION: \u00a0<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For advisement and assistant with portfolios see instructors to arrange appointments for scheduled consultations.<\/span><\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><b>ATTENDANCE<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 The newly revised Dearborn High School attendance policy is in effect. \u00a0Each Tardy, Late and Late after 15 minutes will be recorded on the computer daily.<\/span><\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You need to be present daily so that you can:<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Observe demonstrations of art techniques.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Learn to better analyze, interpret, and make informed judgments about works of art.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Observe and learn from the work of fellow students.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Receive instruction and assistance for decision making.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Contribute to discussions, critiques and brainstorming sessions.<\/span><b>\u00a0 \u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><b><i>Note: It is the student\u2019s responsibility to notify the teacher upon tardy or late arrival to class.<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>EVALUATION FOR GRADING WILL INCLUDE:<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Performance in the following areas will affect your cumulative grade:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>20% FORMATIVE ASSESSMENT<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8211;
