End of Week Updates!

What a great first week of school! All of the children worked so hard in learning our classroom procedures and routines. I am so proud of them. We started with very basic things like listening to read alouds, coloring to make it look like Mrs. Angela’s paper, sitting quietly on the carpet while Mrs. Angela is teaching, and writing our full names. They even did a Montessori work time on Wednesday and Thursday mornings! Each student worked independently at their desk spot on a Chester Raccoon coloring activity and writing their name. When they completed these 2 “Goals” I came and checked their work. They were then able to get a red “busy bin work” off my shelf to play with. Some of the busy bins had Legos, magnatiles, playdough, and coloring books. I was able to help students start reading and paint hands for a special project. We will continue to work on rules and procedures over the next few weeks of school as well so they are masters of Kindergarten rules 🙂

Some important notes-

If you are late dropping off your child in the morning please do NOT drop them off at Door 18 after 9 am. Those doors are locked at 9 am and they will not be able to enter the building. If you arrive later then 9 am please take them to the main office doors by the playground (Door 15) and sign them in.

If you are late picking up your child they will be in the main office by the playground. We stand outside for 5 minutes after dismissal then head to the office to call a parent.

Reminder that we have half days all next week as well!

No School TOMORROW and Monday! (Labor day long weekend)

Open House is next Wednesday, September 7th from 6-7:30 pm. This is a great time for you to see the classroom and tour the building! We will have a scavenger hunt (with a prize for completion), Kona ice truck, scholastic book fair that you can purchase books from, and you will be able to see inside the classroom. You can see our red busy bins, desk spots, carpet dot spots, lockers, and of course some Montessori work we will begin using! This night is a great night for parents to get familiar with the Howe Montessori building.

I hope you have a great weekend! 🙂
