Coming home today!

In folders today you will find the “Summer Activities” packet! It has reading logs for June, July and August. Along with your child’s reading level and suggestions for ways to not have summer slide with academics. Your child also has a eureka math module in there backpack in case you would like to practice that as well. We will have completed all modules except module 6 (we did worksheets that covered that topic back in April). I hope you can spend some time continuing to read over the summer since they are doing so well!

Quick Updates!

On Wednesday I will collect the book bags and books! They will not be bringing them home for the remainder of the school year. In class we have books available for them to practice reading.

Spelling test was today. New words coming home in yellow folders. The test on those words will be Tuesday, May 31st.

Kindergarten Celebration invitation (pink paper) is coming home in today’s folder. It is an after school function so hopefully parents are all able to attend. Please send back the rsvp when you know you can attend.

June calendar will be coming home tomorrow so you can plan accordingly 🙂

I am laminating animal books and it has taken quite a long time! Is anyone able to cut out pages this week or next from home? I can send it home and you can return the next day if you are willing.

Last week we began our money unit! We worked on coins each day and learned their worth. They even began earning money for their “classroom piggy bank”. They earn money for using nice words, completing goal work, and working quietly. On Thursday of this week we will have our first shopping day at our classroom store! They will practice counting coins and purchasing something in their “budget”.

Reminder NO SCHOOL this Friday and Monday for Memorial Day weekend.

Parent Notification Letter re: COVID-19

Dear Parents,

A student in your child’s classroom has been identified as having a COVID-19 illness

COVID is an illness caused by a virus that infects the respiratory tract.  Please watch your child for symptoms for the next 10 days.  Unless they develop symptoms, there is no need to quarantine at this time.

Symptoms usually appear within 2 to 4 days after being infected and include:

  • Fever (>100.4)
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath
  • Sore throat
  • Runny or stuffy nose
  • Headache and muscle aches
  • Extreme fatigue

If your child is having any of these symptoms,  please contact your healthcare provider. If a doctor determines the symptoms are due to another diagnosis, or if COVID-19 is ruled out, you may return to  school after at least 24 hours fever-free without the use of fever-reducing medicine and without vomiting.  A doctor’s note or a negative covid test is required to return to school if your child has developed symptoms.

Prevention of COVID -19 can occur by receiving the COVID -19 vaccine, as recommended by your healthcare provider.  In addition, wearing a well fitted mask when in close contact with others, teaching your children good hygiene habits such as washing hands frequently, covering mouth and nose when sneezing or coughing,  and avoiding close contact with people who are sick.

If you have any additional questions, please contact your healthcare provider.

I hope everyone had a great weekend! The temperatures were such a summer tease.

This week we will be completing the end of the year NWEA computer test. This is required by the state and we will need to do reading and math. We will take reading on Tuesday (tomorrow) and Math on Thursday.

Please make sure your child has a good nights sleep the night before, and a good breakfast before coming to school. Just like we did last time, they will walk in and sit down to take the test right away. Being on time for school is very important this week.

We are also working on finishing up continents, plant life cycle, and beginning our money unit!

This is the time of the year where it gets busy 🙂

Reminder that zoo money and field trip form is due by Monday, May 23rd.

No school on Friday, May 27th and Monday May 30th.

Congratulations Kindergarten! We won the contest for raising the most money for the Color Run Fundraiser and won an ice cream party! Our class raised $1025!!!!! Thank you for all of the support. PTA supports our classrooms, teachers, and school a great deal. This was a great way to support them back.

Spelling test is moved to Monday when I return. I was able to FaceTime the students yesterday and I miss them so much! Thank you all for being flexible and on top of things while I was sick this week. I appreciate it very much.

Have a great weekend with these beautiful temperatures

Color run info!

It is finally color run fundraiser day! Unfortunately, I will be out sick today and tomorrow still 🙁

Everyone has permission slips in so the whole class will be running! If you would like to watch or help you are more then welcome to come and stand along the grass area to cheer on the kids. They will be coming outside and starting around 3 pm.

All students will do the run then meet back at the fence area by the playground where we line up. That is where the sub will be waiting for them. Please make sure if you take your child early or when they finish that you check out with the sub so she sees your child leave with you. Any students still left at 350 will be walked over to door 18 where we normally dismiss.

Remember to pack extra “big clothes” for pick up! Your child will have chalk dust on them and I’m sure you do not want that in your car.

Mrs Sarah has been collecting pledge forms and money for our class this week. If you forgot to send in folders today you can bring at pick up or send tomorrow in a labeled envelope.

Thanks for supporting our PTA with this fundraiser! They do SO MUCH for our classrooms and school.
