No spelling words for next week since it is only 3 days π
Math test took all day to complete (we did sections and took breaks in between) so they will not be coming home until tomorrow.
On Friday I have jury duty so Mrs. S will be our sub π They have work to finish up and an Eid project before the long weekend.
Reminder no school next Monday & Tuesday.
Will try and keep this as condensed as possible! π Everyone is finally back and healthy! Great way to celebrate Earth Day is having all of our friends at school today. The students discussed and wrote about ways we can keep our Earth clean. Recycle, plant trees, and pick up garbage were the easiest ways we thought we can help our planet.
Next week we will finally start our continent unit and also finish up Weather & Seasons by learning about clouds. We have a project and experiment to do!
Eureka math problem sets are being sent home because I have had requests for a study guide. They really do not offer study guides for this grade level. We do practice each concept for 7-8 lessons so the students should be very familiar with it. Our module 4 math test will be on Wednesday, April 27th!
Thursday, April 28th is take your child to work day. Please let me know if your child will be absent for this reason– it is an excused absence.
Now that weather is changing please send your child with a spring coat if necessary. Lots of arguments about wearing coats outside and the school rule is coat must be worn if temperature is under 60 degrees.
Most of the students have been assessed on sight words this week. They each have a post it with the 5 words I want them to focus on for the next week.
Reminder to RSVP to me through email if you are coming to our Mothers Day event at 2:30 pm on Friday, May 6.
Today we are getting new desks after school! I am so excited as are they! What they do not realize is that pods will be eliminated because we are having lots of problems with copying from neighbors papers. They will all sit solo for a couple weeks and we will move back into “pods” for the month of June.
Wednesday is administrative professionals day! (That is Ms. Bernadette!) Don’t forget to wave or send her a note about how appreciated she is. Our school is very lucky to have her.
Mrs. Sarah (Mrs. Verrier as some of the students call her) WON 3rd-5th teacher of the year for Dearborn Public Schools last night! Even though she is an interventionist she works with all of our students in enrichment class. She always likes to hang in the kinder room a lot. Please send a shout out to her if you see her around! Again– another person our school is so lucky to have.
Lastly- enjoy this beautiful weekend we are supposed to have!!!
Please join us for our April PTA meeting tonight at 6 pm on Zoom.

I am hearing postcards have been arriving at your houses! In case you can not read the writing it says:
Dear Mom,
Please come to my school on Friday, May 6 at 2:30 pm. I have a surprise!
Love, (your child’s name)
Please RSVP to me that you are able to attend this Mom’s event.
We took spelling list 11 (ug family) test today! Those who are absent will make up when they return.
New word family is -ad (bad, dad, fad, had, mad, as, him, his)
Eureka Math module 4 test will be next Wednesday, April 27th! That gives everyone time to finish the work and practice for a few days.
Reminder we live in Michigan! Boots, hats, and gloves were desperately needed this afternoon π The students went out for 10 minutes before everything started getting too wet.
Lots of fun today in between working!
Special Ed students hid eggs outside for us to have a hunt. Each child was allowed to find 2 eggs.
We also dyed eggs in the classroom! Always a favorite activity because so many have never done it. I emailed those pictures to parents individually.
Reminder that we have no school tomorrow- Friday.
Monday will be the ug family test (he, yes, no)
Have a great long weekend! π
Reminder we have a late start tomorrow! Breakfast drop off is 9:40 am. School starts at 10 am!
Lots of fevers and sickness going around the room! Please remember students must be fever free for 24 hours with no medicine before returning to school.
I am pushing back spelling test to next Monday so everyone has plenty of time to practice and isnβt rushed while sick.
I am also pushing back continents until next week. Too many sick to re-teach
Have a great night.
This last card marking is going to fly by quicker then we can imagine. We are busy squeezing in as much learning as we can every day! This week the students are taking over “morning meeting”. One student a day is doing calendar, weather, and changing our countdown to summer poster! They love being the “teacher” for a few minutes π Our Benchmark unit is Weather and Seasons and we are studying the differences. We will go into in depth detail about the types of weather, clothing needed, seasons, and types of clouds. We are still finishing up Eureka Math Unit 4 (number bonds/addition/subtraction/making tens). This test will be towards the end of the month. I will give you notice beforehand. Next week we begin our Social Studies continent unit.
This week each student presented there animal diorama to the class! They did a great job showing courage and talking in front of the class. On Thursday morning, they also presented to the 5th,4th, and 3rd grade classes. A couple of the older students stood in next to them and listened to them talk about their animals and what they had in their diorama project. They all loved it and did a great job! Projects will be coming back home today. We are working on finishing up our nonfiction animal books at school.
Marking Period Three report cards are coming home today! Please take out the report card and keep it at home. Send back in the signed envelope on Monday so I know it was received by a parent.
This week we began a new worktime goal– Word Sort. The students take pictures and sort them into the correct category for its beginning sounds. We will do a combination of single sounds and blends (sh, ch, etc) to get them more familiar that sometimes when you combine sounds they change. If they still have all of the pieces at the end of the week when we glue they get a starburst candy π If they lose some I always remind them to try again next week. Usually after the first week they remember to write numbers on the back and put them in the ziplock given.
I completely forgot to send out April reading logs back in March so I understand not all umbrellas will be colored in this month since you did not get them until the 6th.
Reminder that we wear coats outside unless it is above 60 degrees. Some of the students were getting hot in winter coats so I encourage you to check the weather and send a spring coat if the weather is in between on some days.
Calendar Reminders!
Late Start next Wednesday, April 13
No School next Friday, April 15
