Happy Break!

Just a few last minute things!

Animal diorama projects are due on Monday when we get back from break 🙂

Please make sure to send in spill proof water bottles. Many are bringing the water bottles you throw away and we are having major spills in the classroom. After spring break those will not be allowed. I can not keep replacing everything in baskets because of spills. Thank you for understanding.

We go outside every day! Although we were spoiled with a few nice days it is still chilly out. Please remember to send a winter coat, hat, and gloves every day!

Lots of stuff coming home today! April food calendar, spring picture forms, and papers from baskets! We did a clean out.

Have a great spring break!

Reading Logs tomorrow!

Reminder to send in reading logs (Reading Road to Emerald City) tomorrow for our final participation prize! We will be watching the Wizard of Oz in the morning with popcorn and juice 🙂

**Side note —reminder I am keeping reading book bags over break to clean and return all books to inventory. They can practice reading any books you have at home or you can visit the library.

Wish Lists!

Book fair wish lists are coming home in folders today! Please circle what you would like to purchase and send in a ziplock in your child’s folder TOMORROW! We shop first thing in the morning!

REMEMBER to send money for TAX (take the subtotal and multiply by .06)

PTA has also sent home an envelope that you can use if you wish to donate money for teachers to purchase books for the classroom 🙂

Quick Updates!

This week we are working on writing our non- fiction animal books, reviewing past word families, finishing up addition and subtraction, and finally having some fun with rainbows!

Reminder that animal diorama homework is due after spring break! This paper was sent home with the animal research form back on March 1.

Reading logs will be due this Friday to end our reading month activities! That means you have NO reading log over spring break 🙂

On Friday we will watch the Wizard of Oz in class! We will finish the book today. We will have juice and popcorn for Friday’s afternoon movie. They will notice the movie and book are quite different!

Add to calendar:

Friday, May 6th. (requesting moms come to school at 2:30 pm for an hour) NO SIBLINGS… Just moms 🙂

Wednesday, June 8th- Final field trip day to Detroit Zoo. More information to come.

Monday, June 13th- Kindergarten Celebration! (NOT a graduation. A celebration of the year)

Please remind your child to not bring toys, fidgets, etc to school! It is becoming a problem and students are gifting things then wanting stuff back during recess. The toys have even crept into the classroom now. Please have a simple talk reminding them that stuff stays at home. They are more the welcome to draw pictures or write notes to friends if they wish…. just not exchange anything else.

Important! :)

Per the conversations we had yesterday on the field trip! Below is summer school information (sign up asap if interested) and the link to the survey (talks about start/end times and early release Wednesdays).

Howe School Summer Academic and Enrichment Program

Students will have daily opportunities for fun while engaging in special classes, STEM, Math, and Reading. Whole school activities will be planned weekly to round out the program. The program is free of charge and will include free breakfast and lunch. Please use this link to enroll your child in the summer program. It is important to register now! Classes and groupings will be determined based on enrollment numbers. Exiting 5th-grade students will be invited to attend their future middle school placements. Incoming Howe School kindergarteners are welcome to attend Howe.

Parent Survey- Your Input is Needed!

Today we have a guest science teacher! They will be teaching a “Jurassic Jr” dinosaur unit to our students! Big thanks to PTA for paying for it this year! We love their support and the fun stuff they provide to our classrooms.
