Zoom Hangout!

I just emailed out the invites for a zoom hangout session on Thursday! For those who haven’t used zoom you just click the link on the email around 4 pm. (If you click early it will put you in a waiting room until I log on). I chose 4 pm because I was hoping most parents would be able to log their kids on! It will have video and sound so we can all talk to each other! We might need some parent help at first. Zoom seems to be the easiest for the younger kids to handle because they can see all of their friends.

Recap- Keep the email I just sent you called Zoom Hangout

On Thursday (April 2) at 4 pm click on the link in the email. Password is 1234.

Then we should all be able to see each other and talk!

(The session should work on a computer AND phone so pick what is easiest for you).

EPIC emails!

They released EPIC online for kids to use for free until June 30th! This is a great site with LOTS of books across all genres and interests! I highly recommend using the link I sent you and create the account. The link will come from epic so check spam folders if you do not see it in your inbox. I also can see what the students are reading and assign books. They can rotate between epic and raz kids for reading each day!

Pin for everyone is– 1234 (just to keep people not in our class out of your child’s account).

Email me with any questions ๐Ÿ™‚

Monday Updates

Hello Parents!

Last week we finally finished insects which concludes the animal units! This week we would have been using our class time to research and pick an animal for the biome homework. I understand it will be tough to do the project being as we are ordered to stay home. I would begin with the research part. If they haven’t already choose the animal this would be a great day to!

For the research part. What does the animal eat? How does the animal get water? Where does the animal live? What are some interesting facts about the animal. The students should fill out the bubble map with this information specific to the animal they chose.

Please WAIT to do biomes until we hear what this week brings. I would be devastated if they cancel school for the remainder of the year— we have so many fun things planned! At this point lets take it day by day.

When I checked Zearn and Raz kids I saw that almost everyone was doing a great job! Most were doing a couple lessons and books every day for the last two weeks! Keep it up!

Information regarding report cards will be coming soon! I finished them last week and submitted to the district. Luckily I had finished most of my testing needed to complete them! More information to come.

Please let me know if you need anything ๐Ÿ™‚ Have a great Monday!

Thursday!

My oldest woke up sad and upset that today is another day she couldnโ€™t go to school to see her friends. Iโ€™m sure your kiddos are missing the norm as well. We quickly did some reading work and are going to make today a fun day! Forts, painting our windows to make stained glass, and a heart project for people to see as they walk by!

Weโ€™ve almost made it through week 2! Hang in their parents. Remember to send me pictures of your fun and work!

Tuesday.

All Metroparks will still be open for hiking! Our favorites are Lower Huron, Willow, and Oakwoods. Just in case your family needs the fresh air as much as my family does this week ๐Ÿ™‚ They are free for entrance on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. They will still charge the other days so that they are making money for matinence and paying their employees. This could be a good option for getting out once a week.

Monday news!

Who else is utterly disappointed to be waking up to snow?!?!?! I was really hoping the weatherman was going to be wrong. Guess our morning walk will be making snowmen in the back yard instead.

This week is our last animal unit— insects! Below is the video introducing insects and their characteristics.

This week and next we will be experimenting as a staff with google hangout voice and video calls. We have heard this is a great way to “meet” as a class. Do you all have google accounts? If not maybe create one this week so we can have this option if school continues to be cancelled.

As for Eureka math– you may continue working in the workbook if you have picked it up. Module 4 is mostly number bonds practice. The students should be able to complete the pages if you read the directions to them. We *should* have been starting module 5 after spring break in April. We will try and keep that same pace. If you need additional number bond pages let me know and I can see if I can find some more.

Later today I will be emailing out some rhyming pages. We would normally assess for that the week after spring break as well. We have been working on rhyming for quite a while so hopefully these pages will be review.

I understand that many of you are work from home now. And working and teaching your own child is REALLY difficult! Please just try your best, I am hearing from many parents they are overwhelmed and we don’t want to be causing you added stress. Your child should be able to read, write, and practice addition/subtraction problems on their own. If that’s all that gets done in a day then they are at least keeping their brains active. For those who want additional work because your kids are still enthusiastic about ‘homeschooling’ let me know and I can send additional work.

We are in this together– United we stand and divided we fall. I am thinking positive thoughts for all of you and hope everyone is safe and healthy!

Let me know how I can help. Give those kinders hugs and tell them I miss them bunches <3

Happy Friday!

It is a gorgeous day outside! We already went on a walk! Hoping the weather cooperates so we can go to Henry Ford Estates for a hike after nap time!

Mammals should be finished so the students should have just some math to do today. We usually take it easier on Fridays anyways.

Happy Birthday to Joshua and Amir Y!!!! We hope to celebrate your birthday when we get back to school! โค๏ธ

I encourage everyone to get out and play or walk today if you can! ๐Ÿ™‚ Tomorrow will be way colder!

Thursday Updates

Good Morning! Let’s hope this rain doesnt stick around all day!

Today the students should be writing final drafts about mammals. I would love to know what they think mammals eat and where they live. Hopefully your child can sound out the words and do this page independently. They always ask how to spell soomething so remember to ask them to try and sound it out. This is an important skill!

If you need a chromebook please read last nights blog and fill out the two papers PRIOR to going to school tomorrow for the pick up. If everything is printed then you can sign and go!

Below are specials teachers and Ms. Puchala’s blogs. Please feel free to subscribe to get additional ideas and work over the next few weeks!
