Corporal Whitted of the Dearborn Police Department was our guest speaker today.\u00a0 He came to address the students regarding theft, cyber bullying and stalking.\u00a0 He did a great job defining what those things looked like, how to avoid them, and what would happen if they took part in them.\u00a0 As our students get ready to go out into the adult world, without the safety net of being in the classroom, they need to be prepared at how to handle such circumstances and understand what the consequences are. \u00a0\u00a0 So, if you hear that the police came to our classroom – they did!<\/p>\n
Our bowling and pizza party will be next Friday.\u00a0 The students voted on bowling a little longer this time – so we will bowl a full two games (vs. 1 hr. of bowling) and have pizza and pop afterwards.\u00a0 The total cost will be $11 per student.\u00a0 This will also cover $1 each way for the SMART bus.\u00a0 Please start sending in money on Monday, December 15th.<\/p>\n
As we finish out our time here at U of M, we are already looking forward to moving on.\u00a0 Opportunities are opening up for our students that we are very excited about.\u00a0 Henry Ford College is allowing our students to enroll in their classes (on an audit basis) and S.T.E.P. is now offering classes such as Employment Readiness, Art, Retail and Janitorial.\u00a0 Students will be selected based on interest, behavior and readiness.\u00a0 I can’t express enough how excited we are for these opportunities.\u00a0 This is only the start of many good things to come.<\/p>\n
