{"id":2109,"date":"2018-11-16T16:08:41","date_gmt":"2018-11-16T21:08:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/bridger\/?p=2109"},"modified":"2018-11-16T16:08:41","modified_gmt":"2018-11-16T21:08:41","slug":"focus-for-the-week-of-november-19-2018","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/bridger\/2018\/11\/16\/focus-for-the-week-of-november-19-2018\/","title":{"rendered":"Focus for the week of November 19, 2018"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This week our second grade students will be working on:<\/p>\n<div class=\"entry\">\n<div class=\"entry\">\n<div class=\"entry\">\n<div class=\"entry\">\n<p><strong>Reading<\/strong>: \u00a0Students will learn\u00a0to\u00a0identify the main topic of a multi-paragraph text as well as the focus of specific paragraphs within the text.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Math<\/strong>: \u00a0Students will understand that the three digits of a three-digit number represent amounts of hundreds, tens, and ones; e.g., 706 equals 7 hundreds, 0 tens, and 6 ones. They will count within 1000; skip-count by 5s, 10s, and 100s<\/p>\n<p><strong>Writing<\/strong>: \u00a0Students will write narratives in which they recount a well-elaborated event or short sequence of events, include details to describe actions, thoughts, and feelings, use temporal words to signal event order, and provide a sense of closure.\u00a0 Also with guidance and support from adults and peers, they will focus on a topic an strengthen writing as needed by revising and editing.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Science<\/strong>: Students will continue to learn\u00a0about the roles of water in Earth\u2019s surface processes. This also includes Earth materials and systems.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Social Studies:\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>Students will\u00a0\u00a0use maps to describe the spatial organization of the local community by applying concepts including relative location and using distance, direction, and scale. They will learn to describe land use in the community(e.g.where people live, where services are provided, where products are made. They will construct maps of the local community that contain symbols, labels, and legends denoting human and natural characteristics of place.<a href=\"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/bridger\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/293\/2018\/04\/images-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1788\" src=\"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/bridger\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/293\/2018\/04\/images-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"229\" height=\"220\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This week our second grade students will be working on: Reading: \u00a0Students will learn\u00a0to\u00a0identify the main topic of a multi-paragraph text as well as the focus of specific paragraphs within the text.
