{"id":1715,"date":"2018-04-13T16:27:20","date_gmt":"2018-04-13T20:27:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/bridger\/?p=1715"},"modified":"2018-04-13T16:27:42","modified_gmt":"2018-04-13T20:27:42","slug":"focus-for-the-week-of-april-23-2018","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/bridger\/2018\/04\/13\/focus-for-the-week-of-april-23-2018\/","title":{"rendered":"Focus for the week of April 16, 2018"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"post-1694\" class=\"post-1694 post type-post status-publish format-standard hentry category-class-news\">\n<div class=\"entry\">\n<p>This week our second grade students will be working on:<\/p>\n<div class=\"entry\">\n<p><strong>Reading<\/strong>: \u00a0Students will describe how reasons support specific points the author makes in a text.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Math<\/strong>: \u00a0Students will\u00a0partition circles and rectangles into two, three, or four equal shares, describe the shares using the words halves, thirds, half of, a third of, etc., and describe the whole as two halves, three thirds, four fourths. Recognize that equal shares of identical wholes need not have the same shape.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Writing<\/strong>: \u00a0Students will work on informational writing. \u00a0They will work on editing, revising and publishing.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Science<\/strong>: Students will learn about plants and insects. \u00a0We will be investigating and discussing butterflies, mealworms\/beetles, silkworm moths and brassica plants.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Social Studies<\/strong>: \u00a0Students will learn about\u00a0resources to help us understand \u00a0about the past. They will be looking at an artifac<a href=\"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/bridger\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/293\/2018\/02\/cropped-images-4-1.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-1610\" src=\"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/bridger\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/293\/2018\/02\/cropped-images-4-1-150x150.jpeg\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/bridger\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/293\/2018\/02\/cropped-images-4-1-150x150.jpeg 150w, https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/bridger\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/293\/2018\/02\/cropped-images-4-1-300x300.jpeg 300w\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>t and other information to learn and understand about the past.\u00a0 We will begin to discuss timelines and what they mean<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"post-1682\" class=\"post-1682 post type-post status-publish format-standard hentry category-class-news\">\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This week our second grade students will be working on: Reading: \u00a0Students will describe how reasons support specific points the author makes in a text.
