{"id":136,"date":"2019-03-20T10:27:26","date_gmt":"2019-03-20T14:27:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/brewer\/?p=136"},"modified":"2019-03-20T10:27:26","modified_gmt":"2019-03-20T14:27:26","slug":"week-of-march-18th-22nd","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/brewer\/2019\/03\/20\/week-of-march-18th-22nd\/","title":{"rendered":"Week of March 18th-22nd"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Spring is finally here!!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Over the last few weeks, we have finished <em>Harrison Bergeron,<\/em> WIDA Testing, and have been studying George Orwell&#8217;s <em>Animal Farm.\u00a0<\/em>We have had many discussions about the relationship between literature and history, and have focused on the symbolism of the Russian Revolution used throughout the book. We are nearing the end of the text, and have a writing project to complete before Spring Break. More on this later&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/usercontent2.hubstatic.com\/13521105_f520.jpg\" alt=\"Image result for animal farm\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Although we are used to each other by now, student behavior has actually become much worse than the beginning of the year. We need to be mindful of all school policies and classroom norms. They are designed to create an optimal learning experience for all students, and any breakdown in those behaviors causes disruptions. Students have been facing harsh consequences for being tardy, disrupting class, and using cell phones when they aren&#8217;t allowed to. Please adhere to the school rules to stay focused on learning.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>After <em>Animal Farm<\/em> we look forward to <em>Romeo and Juliet, <\/em>a traveling play is visiting our school,\u00a0and we will read many shorter non-fiction texts.
