{"id":3165,"date":"2020-06-10T14:59:48","date_gmt":"2020-06-10T18:59:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/blazeski\/?p=3165"},"modified":"2020-06-10T15:02:26","modified_gmt":"2020-06-10T19:02:26","slug":"2020-summer-learning-math-literacy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/blazeski\/2020\/06\/10\/2020-summer-learning-math-literacy\/","title":{"rendered":"2020 Summer Learning: Math &#038; Literacy"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>2020 Summer Learning: Math &amp; Literacy<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dear Parent\/Guardian,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;According to Johns Hopkins University, the effects of summer learning loss can result in nearly a three-month loss in grade-level equivalency in math and a two-month loss in grade-level equivalency in reading. &nbsp;&nbsp;As a result of the school shut down, estimates suggest students will return in the fall 2020 with roughly 70% of the learning gains in reading relative to a typical school year.&nbsp; However in mathematics, students are likely to show much smaller learning gains and in some grades, nearly a full year behind what we would observe in normal conditions.
