This weeks focus is using main idea and key detail.    I ask that parents take the time to read with you child each night. &nbsp;After the child has read for 30 minutes ask them questions about what they have read. &nbsp; I am assigning weekly summarize that need to be done.  Students must choose a book, read it and write a summary.  Summarize will be due on Friday.  In addition to Daily 5 we have begun MSTEP prep.  <br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u00a0Spelling Words<\/strong>:  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>disappear, improper, miscommunication, antisocial, import, export, invisible, distrust, mislead, disagree,&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>fraction, improper fraction, equivalent, numerator, denominator<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br><br><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Math:<\/strong> \u00a0We are working on Module 5 .  Module 5 focuses   on fractions.      \u00a0In addition I ask that parents go over their child&#8217;s basic computation skills. \u00a0Each student has a math bag.  In that bag you will find division and multiplication cards.  Students are struggling with basic multiplication.  I ask parents to please take the time and review the basics with their students. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Science:<\/strong> This card marking period we will be learning about the scientific method and Energy. &nbsp;Students will participate in hands on experiments to better their understanding. &nbsp;I will send home readings that go along with what we are reading in class. &nbsp;Please go over the reading.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Social Studies:<\/strong> &nbsp;Students will demonstrate understanding of Our Government.   Why do we need a Government?  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Snacks<\/strong>: &nbsp;Please send in a healthy snack with your child. &nbsp;I ask that you only send in a fresh fruit or vegetable. &nbsp;I will give them snack time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Birthday Parties: &nbsp;No cupcakes are allowed. &nbsp;Please send in a healthy snack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><strong>Weather: &nbsp;Please dress your child according to the weather. &nbsp;They will be going outside for recess everyday.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Upcoming Events<\/strong>: Wednesday February 5 Late start, February 17-21 Midwinter break.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>                            <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>   <strong> Homework:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Monday:<\/strong>  Read 30 minutes, I- Ready, <strong>LLI Homework,<\/strong>  Zearn, Study computation, Math learn page , Spelling 5 times each,  book report due on Friday.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Tuesday:<\/strong> Read 30 minutes and work on summary  I- Ready,<strong> LLI Homework<\/strong>,   Zearn, Study computation, Math Succeed page  and 182 Spelling ABC order, Study for social studies test<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Wednesday:<\/strong>  Read 30 minutes, I- Ready, Zearn,   <strong> LLI Homework,<\/strong>  Study computation, Math succeed page  _____ Spelling Sentences<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Thursday:<\/strong> Read 30 minutes, I- Ready, Zearn,  <strong> LLI Homework,<\/strong> Study computation, Math succeed page  _____ Spelling study for test <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Friday: <\/strong>  Read 30 minutes, I- Ready, Zearn, Study computation<\/p>\n\n\n<p><!--EndFragment--><br>\n<br>\n<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Language Arts: &nbsp;We are working on Read to Self &nbsp;Work on Writing, and Read to someone. &nbsp; I have introduced a number of strategies for students to use during their reading.
