Language Arts:<\/strong> We are working on Read to Self Work on Writing, and Read to someone. I have introduced a number of strategies for students to use during their reading. This weeks focus is using context clues when determining the meaning of an unknown word. I ask that parents take the time to read with you child each night. After the child has read for 30 minutes ask them questions about what they have read. I am assigning weekly summarize that need to be done. Students must choose a book, read it and write a summary. Summarize will be due on Friday. Week 9<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Spelling Words week 10 <\/strong> voucher, stretcher, bleacher, catcher, butcher, teacher, sketcher, rancher, researcher, preacher, square number, factor pair, prime number, parentheses, composite number Math:<\/strong> We are working on Module 2. Module 2 focuses on unit conversion and problem solving with metric measurement. In addition I ask that parents go over their child’s basic computation skills. Each student has a math bag. In that bag you will find division and multiplication cards. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Science:<\/strong> This card marking period we will be learning about the scientific method and Energy. Students will participate in hands on experiments to better their understanding. I will send home readings that go along with what we are reading in class. Please go over the reading.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Social Studies:<\/strong> Students will demonstrate understanding of human geography. We will begin unit 3. How Are Places in the United States Connected to Other Places in the United States? <\/p>\n\n\n\n Snacks<\/strong>: Please send in a healthy snack with your child. I ask that you only send in a fresh fruit or vegetable. I will give them snack time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Birthday Parties: No cupcakes are allowed. Please send in a healthy snack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Weather: Please dress your child according to the weather.
