Language Arts:<\/strong> \u00a0We are working on Read to Self \u00a0Work on Writing, and Read to someone. \u00a0 I have introduced a number of strategies for students to use during their reading. This weeks focus is using context clues when determining the meaning of an unknown word. \u00a0 I ask that parents take the time to read with you child each night. \u00a0After the child has read for 30 minutes ask them questions about what they have read. \u00a0 I am assigning weekly summarize that need to be done. Students must choose a book, read it and write a summary. Summarize will be due on Friday. Week 8 Spelling Word <\/strong> lecture, seizure, leisure, moisture, puncture, measure, mixture, sculpture, rupture, assure, <\/p>\n\n\n\n place value, tens, hundreds, thousands, ten thousand Math:<\/strong> \u00a0We are working on module 2. Module 2 focuses on unit conversion and problem solving with metric measurement. \u00a0In addition I ask that parents go over their child’s basic computation skills. \u00a0Each student has a math bag. In that bag you will find division and multiplication cards. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Science:<\/strong> This card marking period we will be learning about the scientific method and Energy. Students will participate in hands on experiments to better their understanding. I will send home readings that go along with what we are reading in class. Please go over the reading.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Social Studies:<\/strong> \u00a0Students will demonstrate understanding of human geography. We will begin unit 3. How Are Places in the United States Connected to Other Places in the United States? <\/p>\n\n\n\n Snacks<\/strong>: Please send in a healthy snack with your child. I ask that you only send in a fresh fruit or vegetable. I will give them snack time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Birthday Parties: No cupcakes are allowed. Please send in a healthy snack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Weather: Please dress your child according to the weather.
