This weeks focus is main idea and supporting details. \u00a0 I ask that parents take the time to read with you child each night. \u00a0After the child has read for 30 minutes ask them questions about what they have read. \u00a0 This week we are focusing on informational text and text features. \u00a0 \u00a0For grammar our focus this week is on affixes.<\/p>\n<p>Math: \u00a0We are working beginning \u00a0Unit 2 in math. \u00a0Unit 2 focuses on using numbers and organizing data. \u00a0We will be learning about place value, and fluently adding and subtracting multi digit whole numbers using the standard algorithm . \u00a0In addition I ask that parents go over their child&#8217;s basic computation skills. \u00a0Math flash cards can be purchased from the Dollar Store. \u00a0Each card marking period students will be tested on all 4 computations skills.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Science: This card marking period we will be learning about the scientific method and life science. \u00a0Students will participate in hands on experiments to better their understanding. \u00a0I will send home readings that go along with what we are reading in class. \u00a0Please go over the reading.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Social Studies: \u00a0Students will demonstrate understanding of how Geographers think. \u00a0Students will also be able to locate Michigan and the United States on a map.
