The courses and schedule are designed to emphasize study skills, organization, time management, and self-control. They also provide the student with knowledge and development of skills needed for group projects, presentations, and research.<\/p>\n<p>Instructional Objectives: At the end of the school year, the successful student will be able to:<br \/>\n\u2022 Master basic math skills according to Middle School standards<br \/>\n\u2022 Apply study skills to everyday classroom situations, assignments, tests, and homework<br \/>\n\u2022 Improve organizational skills in everyday classroom and home situations<br \/>\n\u2022 Develop the required skills in order to eventually transition into high school<\/p>\n<p>Instructional Content\/Course Outline:<br \/>\nAll classes will be working in the following areas:<br \/>\n\u2022 Rational and Irrational Numbers<br \/>\n\u2022 Multi-step Equations<br \/>\n\u2022 Linear Functions<br \/>\n\u2022 Scatter Plots<br \/>\n\u2022 Volume of 3-D shapes<br \/>\n\u2022 Pythagorean Theorem<br \/>\n\u2022 Transformations<\/p>\n<p>Grading Criteria: Students will be graded using the percentage scale below.<br \/>\n100-98 = A+ 97-93 = A 92-90 = A-<br \/>\n89-88 = B+ 87-83 = B 82-80 = B-<br \/>\n79-78 = C+ 77-73 = C 72-70 = C-<br \/>\n69-68 = D+ 67-63 = D 62-60 = D-<br \/>\n59 \u2013 Below = E<\/p>\n<p>There are 2 parts to your student\u2019s grade.<\/p>\n<p>Part 1 \u2013\u00a0<strong>Formative Assessments<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>(Homework and Classwork)<\/strong><br \/>\nFormative Assessments are worth\u00a0<strong>20%<\/strong>\u00a0of the grade.<br \/>\nHomework may be assigned three to four days a week. It is due at the beginning of each class. Late work must be turned in before the summative assessment for the material covered in order to avoid a grade of \u2018zero\u2019 for each assignment. \u00a0 Missing work due to absences is to be turned in within 3 days of return.<\/p>\n<p>Part 2 \u2013 <strong>Summative Assessments (Tests and Quizes)<\/strong><br \/>\nSummative assessments are worth\u00a0<strong>80%<\/strong>\u00a0of the grade.<br \/>\nSummative assessments are to be completed in class during the allotted time given unless it is an \u201cat home\u201d assessment.
