If you prefer, you may pace yourself as needed, as you will have access to the whole Mystery and activity sheets for the week on Monday. I hope this gives you flexibility as needed at home.

In this week’s Mystery 4, In this Mystery, students discover the critical role earthworms play in decomposing dead material and releasing nutrients into the soil. During a two-part activity, Ask a Worm, students observe earthworms and then design their own “fair test” investigations of earthworm behavior. Students first make close observations of worms. Then, students conduct a simple experiment with multiple trials to figure out if worms prefer dry or wet areas. They consider what a “fair test” is and design an experiment to answer other questions about worms. Today, start the video and watch the exploration part. You should have your anchor phenomenon papers handy and a blank page to take notes during the Mystery this week. Answer the discussion questions within the Mystery on your blank paper. We will do the activity tomorrow, so you can stop there; at the slide that says *https://mysteryscience.com/ecosystems/mystery-4/decomposers-nutrients-matter-cycle/215?code=MTI2MzM1NjE&t=student

**You will need earth worms this week to complete the experiments. If you can find 1 or 2 in your backyard that would be ideal. If not, you can watch Doug’s worms.

ELA: This week we will work through the current issue of Scholastic News, Sky’s The Limit.
